hmm.

Personally, I've been in "fandom" as a general thing for years and years now - I can't even properly remember what age I was when I discovered ff.net. I've been through ten or so different fandoms, some just as flings and others in a more involved way, and I'm curious. Tell me about how you first got involved in this whole crazy world.

Some guiding questions:

  • What show or book (or whatever) first introduced you to fanfiction?

  • How did you get into the fan community on livejournal?

  • If you've had other fandoms, did you participate or just lurk?

  • Is Supernatural the first fandom you've really been active in?
And some more general questions, if you're so inclined:
  • Had you ever been involved in RPS before this fandom?

  • Why do you think RPS is so popular here?

  • How did you first find Supernatural - the show?

* What show or book (or whatever) first introduced you to fanfiction?

Oh boy. *thinks* Um. I think it was The Fast and the Furious. I know it was the first fanfic I'd written (het, too).

* How did you get into the fan community on livejournal?

That took a little longer. I was involved with various and assorted message boards, mailing lists, etc in that fandom/Vin Diesel fandom and several people I knew had journals. Eventually, I just happened over too - in the days when you needed an invite code. Wooo whee!

* If you've had other fandoms, did you participate or just lurk?

It depends on the fandom and if I "click" with anyone else. Some I've been more involved with than others.

* Is Supernatural the first fandom you've really been active in?

Lol. No.

And some more general questions, if you're so inclined:

* Had you ever been involved in RPS before this fandom?

Yes.

* Why do you think RPS is so popular here?

I'm gonna decline only because I'm tired and not doing well at forming coherent thought right now. ;-)

Oh, man. I remember the good ol' days of needing an invite! Actually, scratch good ol' days. I am so so glad livejournal stopped with that nonsense.

Vin Diesel fandom, huh? Is that how you know [livejournal.com profile] chickypooh

What show or book (or whatever) first introduced you to fanfiction?
It's weird, but the way I've always described it is 'Wil Wheaton got me into slash.'. I was always a ST:TNG fan, and when I discovered he had a blog, I started reading it. He once linked to TWoP (http://televisionwithoutpity.com/), where I started reading Smallville reviews. Well, on those boards I read posts by [livejournal.com profile] slodwick, who linked to her lj. The rest? Is history.

How did you get into the fan community on livejournal?
After lurking around on slod's lj for awhile, I got one of my own. SV fandom was very welcoming and I just started getting more and more friends.

If you've had other fandoms, did you participate or just lurk?
Hmmm. Both? I'm a bit ADD, so I'd say I've been semi-active in about 20 different fandoms just within the last 5 years.

Is Supernatural the first fandom you've really been active in?
Nope, Smallville and Pirates of the Caribbean were the first.

Had you ever been involved in RPS before this fandom?
*laughs*
I actually used to think RPS was wrong. Then? I discovered Olympics/Swimmer!Slash fandom. And let's just say, I had a change of heart. (http://ruedifference.livejournal.com/60950.html) *cough*Not to mention this. (http://ruedifference.livejournal.com/93766.html)*cough*

[identity profile] polyspaston.livejournal.com 2006-12-21 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
I was trying to remember the other day and then I realised, I realised ANY fandom actually existed through reading - ah if you haven't read them you so have to its hillarious - the secret diaries off of Lord of the Rings that cassandra claire wrote? I can't for the life of me remember how I stumbled across those but then I found this little link to the draco trilogy she wrote, and I just assumed it'd be like the secret diaries, and then I realised she'd actually written...well, a novel on the subject, and then I decided I really couldn't stop reading it and then I realised there were looooooads of people doing it, and then I realised it wasn't just harry potter, and then I wrote some crap and didn't do a lot of uni work which I was supposed to be doing instead. The end.

And I didn't know about supernatural until you set me up with that pilot and *sob* I've not seen any since. Though if it's on ITV1 I might :0D

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2006-12-21 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
If you're still willing to go the download route, I can totally hook you up with, like, all of season 1 and what we have so far for season 2. *pimp pimp pimp* Look at my cane, it is shiny.

Re: Secret Diaries - Hah! I remember those! And also the trilogy, though I never read it. I remember the wank, though. OH THAT WANK.

I swear, it was all [livejournal.com profile] binx_349's fault. She showed me LJ, and she helpfully gave me a link to what turned out to be NC17 Grissom/Sara porn. "EMMA!" I cried. "GRISSOM AND SARA ARE... HAVING SEX! I SWEAR THIS NEVER HAPPENED ON THE SHOW! ALSO, I JUST READ A DESCRIPTION OF GRISSOM'S MANPARTS!" "Yes, Robin," she replied. "This is called fanfic. It is good and bears no resemblance to reality."

And Emma was right.

So, my other fandoms were CSI and then a brief stint in Lost which I got bored of because everyone else wanted to talk about the weird reversed voices in the forest and no one wanted to talk about Sawyer's chest. SPN is my first really major fandom, participation-wise, though. I got into it Feb 1st this year (oh man, go check out my post on that day, it's fucking hilarious.) About five days later, I was reading NC17 Wincest. Good times.

I swear, this is the only fandom I read RPS in. Usually it squicks me, but here I love it. This may be due to my acute Winlexia, and I think it's true to say that it's a milder form of Winlexia that makes it so accepted - people want to read The OTP, whether it be J/J or S/D.

And I first heard about SPN when I was in a movie theatre. A trailer aired as part of the pre-movie ads, and I was terrified. "WORST CAR AD EVER!" I thought to myself as the Impala zoomed about and Dr Ellicot tried to suck Sam's soul and Dean made out with chicks. "NO. WAIT. IT'S FOR A TV SHOW. BEST TV SHOW PIMPING EVER, MUST WATCH THAT NOW!" And I did.

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2006-12-21 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
DUDE HOW COULD YOU SAY IT WAS THE WORST CAR AD EVER? hot boys + the supernatural + a fuckable black car = best car ad ever. DUH.

your winlexia still amuses me beyond anything. i remember the first comment you ever made to me was regarding sam/dean but used the names jared and jensen. *FONDNESS* awww.

What show or book (or whatever) first introduced you to fanfiction?
Harry Potter. I sort of stumbled onto ff.net got addicted, and from there found the good stuff at checkmated.com and the sugarquill

How did you get into the fan community on livejournal?
I can't remember for sure, but I think I followed authors from checkmated over.

If you've had other fandoms, did you participate or just lurk?
I used to be very active in the Boondock Saints fandom. Now I lurk there occasionally.

Had you ever been involved in RPS before this fandom?
I used to read Flandus (Norman Reedus/Sean Patrick Flannery), but that's it.

Why do you think RPS is so popular here?
Because Jared and Jensen are dripping with chemistry. Unlike Flandus, where the guys just happened to be pretty and working together, you know that J2 really really like each other. It's not hard to imagine there's a bigger relationship than what we get to see.

How did you first find Supernatural - the show?
A few people in the BDS fandom started watching and then talking about it nonstop. Then I realized that Dean was Eric from Days and Sam was Dean from GG so I checked it out.

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2006-12-21 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
Awwwwww, J-squared! They really just have this amazing - thing, you're right. It comes through in all the interviews and pictures and in Sam and Dean. *feels all warm and fuzzy*

It's really amazing how many different people got pulled into SPN from all these fandoms. Makes you think about how much drawing power our little show must have. :>

1. ...Linkin Park
2. Um, through Linkin Park, but not in the LP community, because it's virtually nonexistant on lj.
3. Participated, mostly.
4. No.

5. Yes! I totally got my start in RPS.
6. I think the main reason (aside from the obvious aesthetical reasons) is that writing RPS in this fandom is something of a way to avoid writing incest. Of course, I've heard that theory turned completely around, too (that people write Wincest to avoid writing RPS, which... what?). But I still think it's a large part of RPS fic's popularity.
7. I found it through... I have absolutely no idea. :D

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2006-12-21 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, what the hell is with the idea that people write 'cest so as not to write rps? How does that even make sense? I mean, personally, I'd think incest is a much bigger tabboo than real people getting it on. Isn't that what historical fiction is, after all?

Weird. Ass.

[identity profile] hebrew-hernia.livejournal.com 2006-12-21 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
When I was about 12, I was all about the Animorphs, which was a really bad sci-fi book series. I spent my formative years on ff.net writing for Animorphs, then In a Heartbeat (Disney Channel TV series starring Shawn Ashmore). I found LJ through Pages of True Love, which is a fan forum for the Pacey/Joey pairing on Dawson's Creek based on EZBoards.com, when I came looking for OC fanfiction (the connection was through [livejournal.com profile] miss_begonia). The OC fandom enabled me to establish a flist, which introduced me to other fandoms such as Doctor Who and Supernatural.

I have ended up participating (i.e. writing fic) in every fandom I've been in (with the exceptions of my lurking around and occasionally commenting on HP fic, and House, which I never really got that involved with anyway), with the exception being SPN RPS, which is the first RPS fandom I've been in. I don't write porn, although I am an avid reader and sometimes overly enthusaistic commenter, because I firmly believe in the tenet of "write what you know" but am woefully inexperienced. I'm pretty young, still.

I think RPS is so popular because JARED AND JENSEN ARE MOTHERFUCKING HOT. And are pretty obviously doing each other. So there's that. And it can pretty much be the ultimate OTP because there's really no established canon aside from the whole totally-doing-it vibe they give off all the time, so they can be angst-free or angst-laden, depending. I personally prefer my J2 to be angst-free.

I first found SPN through a friend IRL, actually, who kept mentioning it and Jensen Ackles and how hot he is (although I already knew that, thanks to Dawson's Creek and Smallville, which I watch very infrequently, but frequently enough to know that Jensen Ackles was on it being insanely hot), and then it exploded all over my flist and I decided to conform.

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2006-12-21 05:57 am (UTC)(link)
oh my GOD i remember animorphs!! it was naturally horrible, but oh! i loved it so much. i also remember being so angry that some of them took on ridiculous forms that wouldn't do anything for stealth, but anyway.

i see now that jensen and jared are pretty much the only reason people get sucked into our tiny fandom. they should get a big bonus this year, maybe a lifetime supply of condoms and some milkbones for sadie and harley. along with a den of mansex, where they could keep their various toys and boy-slaves.

[identity profile] saekokato.livejournal.com 2006-12-21 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
My first fandom/introduction to fandom was Sailor Moon. Um, my experience in the fandom was realitively brief (a year or so) 'cause then I moved onto boybands. Heh. I did the boyband fandom (primarily BSB and *NSYNC) for *years* and then wandered off for affairs with Gundam Wing, Star Wars: TPM, Buffy/Angel/Firefly, random anime, West Wing, Sports Night, Harry Potter and some others that I have to be forgetting. Most of the last six, seven years have been spent with Gundam Wing and Harry Potter. Then I found SPN.

And I was saved! Hallelujah!

*ahem* Most of my time was spent lurking, but I have participated in Gundam Wing and Harry Potter and, most recently, SPN. I still don't participate-participate, but I'm definately more up on what's going on with SPN than I was with anything else. Gundam Wing was what sucked me into LJ, with the RPG Solicium. *Love* those guys. And I totally blame all of the people I met through Solicium for SPN. They started squealing about the show and then I looked into it and I was hooked.

I started with RPS in the boyband realms. Just couldn't avoid it really. And I think its so popular in SPN because incest really is a big taboo for society and the sexual tension is so *there* between Sam and Dean on the screen that people have to see it and the only way to make that kosher is to see it as Jared and Jensen and not the two brothers. 'Cause gay men are much more acceptable than bro-cest. *shrug* I just like having both options. ^_~

So, yeah. That's the last ten years or so of my life for ya. *laughs*

I'M SO SORRY, I'VE WRITTEN YOU AN ESSAY.

When I was 12 Stargate SG-1 started in New Zealand, and I discovered online fandom, or rather, a website that no longer exists where you played games to increase in rank, and there was a chat thing that was really more like a guest book we'd cannabilised. Anyway so I was on there for a couple of years, and somewhere in there I discovered OneList and fanfiction. So I was reading het until I was about 14, possibly 15, and then I discovered SG-1 slash (no, not Jack/Daniel. Jack/Martouf. always had a thing for angry sex). Anyway, I wrote a couple of crappy pieces, one gen and the other a Mary Sue with het, and they kicked me off the Jack/Martouf mailing list for being underage before I could write anything there.

After that, I can't remember what I did, I was reading slash somewhere, but it wasn't SG-1 and I don't remember what it was. I got kicked off a lot of mailing lists. OneList became eGroups became YahooGroups, and the original SG-1 site I'd been on lost its community aspect when it got bought by MGM, and now exists as an Official Site.

At the tail end of YahooGroups' popularity, within a few months of turning 18, I got into Star Wars prequel fandom (Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan, of course), and met someone there who introduced me to LJ. So I got my LJ in March 2003, and shortly after left Star Wars and got into Harry Potter. I shipped Harry/Snape while it was still incredibly rare, and branched out into all the weird pairing. I wrote graphic Dumbledore/Marcus Flint, something with frilly knickers, and something else I can't remember, and entertained myself greatly by showing them to unsuspecting members of fandom. I also wrote a bit of plot, for an exchange, which still gets decent reviews. I'd learnt to write respectably by then.

I don't think that's quite right, actually, I think HP and Star Wars overlapped, or perhaps I took a break from HP. Because I was on a lot of YahooGroups for HP and also I was there for several years, and it's not adding up right.

After HP was Stargate Atlantis, which was a hell of a breath of fresh air. HP really got past its use-by date, and it wasn't fun anymore. Atlantis is fucking awesome, a good third of the fandom is pure crack. Anyway, that was about two years, and I was reading Supernatural on the side but not actively participating, and then a few months ago I started writing in Supernatural, and ditched Atlantis. Few other side fandoms along the way, things I read a bit in the middle of actively participating in other things, but that's pretty much me.

OKAY GOD I'M DONE.

RPS: I used to read HP RPS, though not in a major way, and I've been known to dabble in bandslash, though you didn't hear me say that. Atlantis I've written in, and I read a lot of it. I think probably some others too, along the way.

Er, clearly RPS is popular here BECAUSE THEY ARE FUCKING ASKING FOR IT. No, I'm serious. If they aren't actually fucking, I'd like to know why not, because they look at each other with so much damn love, I don't know what to do with myself.

Because I love talking about myself... ;)

The first show I got even semi-involved in the fan community for was The X-Files. I read a LOT of fic for that in early high school. The Gossamer archive was where I lived. I even tried my hand at a couple tiny ficlets, but I was a totally avid reader. There's one series I remember that got up to like 45 parts, and I followed every bit of it. I stuck to simple Mulder/Scully, and was so happy doing that. Then I discovered Buffy and Harry Potter. I donno which came first, but I do know that I started trolling the internets for more and more varied fannish things. Inevitably, I started stumbling on LJ pages left and right, and eventually I decided, screw it, I'll make my own LJ just because I want to comment so often! I thought for sure I'd never actually USE the LJ - ha, how wrong was I! I got completely immersed rather quickly. I think one of my first LJ-centric fandoms was Queer as Folk - that's where I truly started making FRIENDS, instead of just hovering on the periphery of the action. From there I progressed into things like Lost, and Firefly, and Star Wars, and Boondock Saints, but I kept my toes dipped in Harry Potter and QaF. Then, oh THEN, Supernatural ATTACKED me and swallowed me whole and I have been its devoted slave ever since. I was reasonably active in other fandoms before, but I have never been so encompassed by one fandom.

I definitely did do RPS before - Ewan/Hayden was a really fun period I went through at one point. As for why it's so popular - I think it's a mixture of the facts that 1) there's so few pairings to work with on the show, and the main one IS incestuous, so people are more inclined to look to this source of fannishness, and 2) Jared and Jensen make it SO EASY. Hee.

My friend [livejournal.com profile] ringwench flailed for months before I finally gave it a try. AND I'M SO GLAD I DID. *clings to Winchesters*

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2006-12-21 06:06 am (UTC)(link)
It kind of amuses me how many people describe being damn well sucked in by SPN fandom. I wonder why it is that our fandom is so "YOU WILL BE MY SLAVE AND LIKE IT", y'know? I was hugely in Harry Potter for years and years before I read something by [livejournal.com profile] ladyjaida, not realizing it wasn't HP, and was immediately eaten alive (feet first, of course, so I had time to think about what was happening to me as it went on).

It's really hard just to fringe in this fandom, too. You can't just idle around and maybe-sort-of read some on the side, from what I've seen.

What show or book (or whatever) first introduced you to fanfiction?
Frankly? Hong Kong stars fanfiction site @ www.winglin.net/fanfic. I have, like, a dozen fictions up there. *facepalm*

How did you get into the fan community on livejournal?
[livejournal.com profile] suicide_poem (whom I met from fangirling over a HK actress Michelle Yip) first introduced me to Lost on her site r.i.p. nicki and when she decided to move all her bloggings to LJ, I followed her like a lost (no pun intended) puppy. The first comm I ever join was a Lost episode download, I believe.

If you've had other fandoms, did you participate or just lurk?
Not so much participation. Just a bunch of icons.

Is Supernatural the first fandom you've really been active in?
Oh. Very much YES.

Had you ever been involved in RPS before this fandom?
Oh. Very much NOT. This fandom rocks. \o/

Why do you think RPS is so popular here?
Um. Because JSquared is the awesomest thing ever on this planet? ♥ Okay, semi-serious answer: While Jared and Jensen look really great on screen as brothers, they look even closer and friendlier off screen though I thought it isn't possible. I mean, imagine Sam and Dean without all the angst and OMGwehavetokillthisevilbastard! tension. It's like Hell House every single day. Yay!

How did you first find Supernatural - the show?
A little persuading from somewhere in LJ. Checked out the pilot when it first aired here on paid tv (around the time Devil's Trap finished airing in US) and fell like whoa for it. So I download the finale to have a look. Absolutely LOVE it. Proceeded to downloading the whole season to catch up. Hooked ever since. :D

♥; Sue

*makes happy gurgling noise* they really do have an adorable, fun dynamic, don't they? it isn't really explored as much in fic as you'd think, but it's there and it's fantastic. i want to eat them with a spoon. a spoon.

What show or book (or whatever) first introduced you to fanfiction?
Harry Potter.

How did you get into the fan community on livejournal?
I don't really recall. I suppose an author I liked had an lj.

If you've had other fandoms, did you participate or just lurk?
I participated quite a lot in Harry Potter, not at all in Smallville, slightly in Franz Ferdinand and Libertines RPS, and not much yet in Supernatural.

Is Supernatural the first fandom you've really been active in?
I haven't been very active at all, but I'm enjoying myself nonetheless.

Had you ever been involved in RPS before this fandom?
I've written RPS about members of British bands Franz Ferdinand and the (now defunct) Libertines.

Why do you think RPS is so popular here?
Because Jensen and Jared are in love. ^-^

How did you first find Supernatural - the show?
I'm part of a collaborative writing thing/RPG here on LJ which used to be Harry Potter based but is now thoroughly AU and borrowing characters from a million other places. Both the characters and the mytharc (and players' predictions) were taken from Supernatural.

What show or book (or whatever) first introduced you to fanfiction?
Supernatural really. I'm actually fairly new to internet fandom. It's still all shiny and new.
How did you get into the fan community on livejournal?
Wow, I don't really remember. I think someone linked to their LJ on a message board or something? I'm not sure.
If you've had other fandoms, did you participate or just lurk?
I barely do anything in this one! I'm hoping to start writing when I have more time but I might not ever post anything. There are so many people in the fandom that are so crazy-talented, it's a little intimidating, in a good way ;)

That all sounded very boring and slightly mad, but I promise I usually make much more sense. And generally use less exclamation marks .

Hi, you! I would like to smish you. *smish* Thanks for taking the time to de-lurk, too, it's nice to meetcha all proper and stuff.

So, you're completely new to the whole idea of fandom?

Oooh, I love answering stuff!

What show or book (or whatever) first introduced you to fanfiction? I would have to say Harry Potter. Actually, before that, I was a huge tomgirl who thought reading should only be done in class and when I was asked. I was the fastest runner in my grade (of girls) and me and my brother trained for track-and-field day and I was all into sports and now I hate it. That's not really related to the question, but I remember getting mad at my friends for talking about HP while I was watching a noon-hour game of dodgeball. Then I got HP for Christmas, never read it, went with my friend a month later to see the second movie, couldn't pronounce Hermione for the next three months and fell in love with it. My first fanfiction was actually a Harry/Hermione 7th year one where they get sent to Azkaban because Dumbledore thought they sent off the Dark Mark, but it was actually Snape. It was 30 pages long. Very, very sad.

How did you get into the fan community on livejournal? I got into during Supernatural when I first started reading Wincest. I was kind of into it during HP, but not hugely. Wincest circulates very nicely through LJ and there are lots of pretty, sparkly communities here.

If you've had other fandoms, did you participate or just lurk? HP, I participated and lurked a lot more. I read Twilight and was in the fandom for, I swear to God, about two weeks. Other than that, I've never really had any other fandoms that I've been huge in.

Is Supernatural the first fandom you've really been active in? Harry Potter, I was a huge fan of Draco/Ginny and lurked and wrote and squeed madly over that.

Had you ever been involved in RPS before this fandom? No. It honestly squicked me.

Why do you think RPS is so popular here? The boys' chemistry with each other! How they interact and are so close and all the goddamn, teasing touching! Also, they so eyefuck each other, it's not even funny.

How did you first find Supernatural - the show? This is REALLY hard because I don't really know. I watched a bit of the Pilot, thought it was a meh show and went on loving Harry Potter, like the freak I was. Then, I watched a few more episodes, thought "Wow, they're hot" and it turns out another girl in my class liked Supernatural. We squeed for a bit and became good friends. =) And then Wincest just came up because I was getting into slash and I just wanted to slash something and thought "to hell with them being brothers".

The end.

And I totally didn't mean tomgirl, cause isn't it tomboy? Whatever, my brain is fried right now.

What show or book (or whatever) first introduced you to fanfiction?
Lord of the Rings.

How did you get into the fan community on livejournal?
It was in the middle of Lost S1, I think I was looking at reviews and stumbled upon lots and lots of fanfic :D

If you've had other fandoms, did you participate or just lurk?
I've kind of just lurked until SPN. Commented on a few fics, but that was before I got an LJ. People in the SPN fandom seemed really nice and this made me participate a little more. I do read fic for most shows I watch, but very casually, whereas SPN is almost everyday.

Had you ever been involved in RPS before this fandom?
Well, the LotR fic I read was RPS. I never really read anything in the 'verse itself, just RPS. So at this point I really have a hard time comprehending people being squicked by it.

Why do you think RPS is so popular here?
We have two gorgeous and funny men who seem to be really close. Obviously they cannot just be friends. No, I dunno...

How did you first find Supernatural - the show?
I was bored and needed something to watch. Looked in a download comm and saw a show that had both Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, both of whom I knew, in it so I downloaded. This was after the 6th ep (Bloody Mary?). I thought the boys were hot but found it weird and kind of badly written so I kind of forgot about it after that until I had to go with my family to our summerhouse and needed something to keep my preoccupied. This was around ep 13. I watched them all pretty fast and fell in love with Dean and Sam and i really liked how the plot evolved. So, not one of those people who saw the pilot and was instantly hooked.

What exactly is the argument for people being squicked by RPS? I don't really understand how it's any worse than regular fanfiction - it's not like we claim to know the people we're writing about or that it really happened. Well, y'know, unless you're a tinhat or off your rocker.

Alright.
What show or book (or whatever) first introduced you to fanfiction?
It was Harry Potter that first got me going. A friend introduced me to ff.net ages ago, and I was a Harry Potter nut back then. (yes, I'll shamelessly admit it!)

How did you get into the fan community on livejournal?
It was Supernatural that got me on livejournal! (cheers) Yeah, I'm still kinda new on here--I followed some links to some SPN stories and I've never left.

If you've had other fandoms, did you participate or just lurk?
Participated in two others.

Is Supernatural the first fandom you've really been active in?
No, HP and Charmed before SPN for me.

Had you ever been involved in RPS before this fandom?
I hadn't even realised RPS was really written before this fandom, honey.

Why do you think RPS is so popular here?
Because they're so pretty might be an outstanding factor. =D

How did you first find Supernatural - the show?
I saw an add in the cinema (all I can remember from it was John talking on the payphone from Scarecrow and I think Ellicot ...) and then some of the Charmed writers I knew were writing Supernatural stuff and I was like, Hey I'll check that out. Boy I am glad it did...!!

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2006-12-22 07:31 am (UTC)(link)
And I'm glad you did too! *big smish*

1. What show or book (or whatever) first introduced you to fanfiction? Um, Linkin Park RPS.

2. How did you get into the fan community on livejournal?
The owner of the website where EVERYONE in the fandom archived their fic had her period and threatened to close it down, so everyone RUSHED over to LJ and started making journals and trading links so that we wouldn't miss out on the buttsex, basically. And also, there were a few communites, like prompt communities that I wanted in on, so I needed a LJ to participate in those. But this spn fandom? Insane compared to anything else I have ever been involved with!

3. If you've had other fandoms, did you participate or just lurk?
Participate. Sometimes I get a plot bunny, write a fic for a fandom (cough POtC cough) and never read anyone else's stuff or anything and then leave. Yeah, that was...short lived, that fandom. Hmmm....

4. Is Supernatural the first fandom you've really been active in?
Noooooo. And I'd hardly say I'm active. You guys kill me. Everyday, I die a little death.

5. Had you ever been involved in RPS before this fandom?
YES. I love it more than character fiction.

6. Why do you think RPS is so popular here?
Because teh boys are so much in love. They make it easy for us, with their friendship and bond. They are hot and spend all their time together, so logically they are fucking. Um, because supernatural is such a specific genre and I know a lot of people wouldn't feel comfortable writing about supernatural beings. And also the wincest, that puts the stupid people off too.

How did you first find Supernatural - the show?
ERICA. I watched one or two eps and the acting and the plot holes made me want to slit my wrists, so I stopped watching. A year or so later and Erica was all, "algifljfrghjfjfghjfgfjhdfdfgjhdfgj" on my friend's page and on msn and I was making fun of her...and I got sucked right in hook line and sinker. So I started friending people and posted some stuff and you guys were so kind and positive and like instant friends, so I wouldn't dream of leaving you all now.
