year in review!

Fics written this year: 81, not including commentfic
Fandoms: -Supernatural/RPS [45] -Stargate: Atlantis [18]
First fic of the year: Give it Time (Sam/Dean, PG-13)
Longest to date: Stars of Track and Field (McKay/Sheppard, R) ~6,750 words

My favorite story this year: OH, that's hard. Um. Punctuated Equilibrium (McKay/Sheppard, R), I think, because (1) I'm a closeted Biology geek, and (2) I think I was only just beginning to fall for John and Rodney, and that story was really - as stupid as I feel saying it - my tentative love letter to them.

My best story this year: Plenty of Paper (McKay/Sheppard, R). I think it's the only story I've written that actually did exactly what I wanted it to, and it's definitely one of the only ones I can reread and actually enjoy without nitpicking every line to death.

Story most underappreciated by the universe: When I Wake Up a Second Time (Sam/Dean implied, R). I think what happened with this one was it's more beautiful in my head than out of it. I've been told by a lot of people that they didn't exactly get it, and I guess I can understand why. When I read it there are layers of meaning in every part that make it important and heavy, but I don't think they translate over unless you're, you know, in my head.

Most fun story: Bump in the Night (McKay/Sheppard, R). Ahahaha, even though I stayed up until five a.m. writing the last three thousand words of this, it was just so much fun to get to play with the comedic timing and twist one of my favorite ever shows around. And really, this story is what is sounds like inside my brain all the time.

Sexiest story: Tangle (McKay/Sheppard, NC-17). No one's really surprised, right? I mean, the fact that I even wrote that pretty much tells you I have a huge thing for hair and having it played with. [livejournal.com profile] immoralilly found it hugely entertaining when I turned into a mumbling puddle.

Story with single sexiest moment: Just Like We Do (John Sheppard/Joe Flanigan, NC-17) written with [livejournal.com profile] schneestern. Come on, like there was any other answer. Joe gets his fingers inside of John's ass. Jesus.

Most unintentionally *telling* story: A Little Better All the Time (McKay/Sheppard, PG), my first McShep story! I'm pretty sure anyone who knows me at all can figure out why this is telling. I'm not really that subtle.

"Holy crap, that's *wrong*, even for you": I think it's a tie between Cat Scratch Fever (Sam/Dean, R), Fangs and Feelers (Jensen/Jared, NC-17), and Fix a Magic Spell (Jensen/Jared, NC-17). Fix a Magic Spell is sort of out in front for very obvious reasons, but the outtake from Cat Scratch Fever - which I blame entirely on [livejournal.com profile] schneestern, who sat there and went "DO IT DO IT PLEEEEASE" at me - is also very wrong, and Fangs and Feelers involves tails, so. (Huh, you know - all of these are wrong because of [livejournal.com profile] schneestern. HOW 'BOUT THAT.)

Hardest story to write: Surprisingly, Stars of Track and Field (McKay/Sheppard, R). I can't even read through it now, because I keep wincing and wishing I'd put an extra scene in there, or cut this part out, or changed the wording here. There was a whole vision I had for it, helped graciously along by talking with [livejournal.com profile] kashmir1, and that story didn't really live up to it. I was pressed for time and I pushed through it when I probably should have let it stand for a day and then done some editing. Maybe once I've put out the sequel I'll go back and do some revisions.

Easiest story to write: Plenty of Paper (McKay/Sheppard, R). There was nothing about this that didn't come easily; one of those fics that wants to be written, I suppose. It was fun and I didn't give a flying potato what anyone who read it was going to think, because I was completely unknown in the fandom and didn't expect much of a response at all.

This year's theme and the story that demonstrates it most: I don't know if my writing really has a particular theme, but if it does, I kind of think Days Go By (Sam/Dean, PG-13) sort of captures it. It's very contained and soft, and I think it's very indicative of how I've gone through the past year.

Things I want to do in 2008: Work on the Firefly/SGA fusion, write The City on the Still fic set in the 1920's, find my plotting hat and try SGA gen teamfic on for size.

I'm not entirely sure if I'm going to be posting any fic between now and the first, but I'm hopeful. Plane rides are always long and boring, right? Now I go off to run around like a headless chicken, do wash, wrap presents, and pack. :D

I have no earthly idea why it's taken me so long to friend you. Everything you write makes me so freaking happy!
