It's been my theory for the longest time that the only reason why Sam's and Dean's eyes are bleeding in Bloody Mary is because they can't stand the pretty... :-P

They have to do it when the mirror is still foggy. That way, they can only see the outline of their jaw and are not entirely overwhelmed with their own prettiness.
