Okay, so, feel free to throw tomatos at me

I thought this episode sucked. Like a hoover. Why, you ask?

1) Where the hell is the Sammy love? We got probably three full scenes with him, if that, which, okay you want to focus an episode on Dean? Fabulous, I fully support that idea, make sure you get some close ups of his freckles. But isn't the whole mytharc supposed to be (mostly) about Sam? At least, that was my impression, what with Kripke throwing those anvils at us from time to time. I understand Jared hurt his hand and that probably had something to do with his air time, but they do pick-up scenes all the time, they couldn't add him in a little bit more? Seriously, it was just his hand.

2) I don't even try to hide the fact that I dislike Jo at this stage. In the beginning, I was sort of, "Eh, whatever," about her, but now I just out-and-out don't like her. She's far from a Mary Sue (dude, I'm from the HP fandom), but there's something about her that bugs me. I think some of it might be the actress, actually, because I keep wishing the girl who played Jessica could have been her instead. Alona Tal's face...just, it makes me want to yell at her or something, I don't know. Anney and I spent most of the show capslocking at her, telling her to NOT GO DOWN THERE, and to STOP BEING SO STUPID.

3) The plot of this episode could have been so fantastic, guys--FANTASTIC. The first recorded serial killer executed right under them, taking pretty blonde things and hiding them somewhere inside the walls. So. Much. Potential. Squandered! We never get the history behind the MoTW, just a sort of slipshod, "bad, evil, bait, walls, kill. woo!" It felt half-assed, and it was definitely playing third fiddle to all the different Jo and Dean interactions.

4) That's another thing: sure, the main backbone of this show is characters relating to each other and being psychologically rich, but did we really need every scene that involved Jo and Dean to be so "im in ur face messin wit ur emotionz"? And the end? Wasn't really a shocker. Both Anney and I had it figured by by the knife scene, and I bet most of you did, too. Once again, it felt half-assed, like in the previous episodes, they'd had Ellen trusting the boys implicitly and then, boom, "oh wait, we can't do that, BIG FLASHY ENDING, GUYS!"

ETA: Haha, I just scrolled through my AIM window with Anney and I thought this was funny--
Mel: Oh, not that's not conspicuous at all.
Anney: All the people are like, "ARE THEY LOOKING FOR TREASURE?"
Mel: Ha, listen to it beep. Even their detector is a fan of metal.
Anney: OH MY GOD.
There's more, but I really am not being articulate. So, in closing:

Dear Kripke,

I have a little song that I want you to listen to. It's from the play Producers, and it's called "Keep It Gay". Listen carefully, Teh Krip, and learn from the masters.

Ever Faithful,
Mel

I think the breakout actor this week was the fudge. Nothing says super awesome like FUDGE OF SATAN! He should come back for another episode.

jo iz lame, yo. but i ♥ my deen and sammich.

DEEN AN' SAMMICH 4 EVA!

/crazy talk

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2006-11-03 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
Now you're making me want an evil sundae. Mmm, evil.

[identity profile] undecipherable.livejournal.com 2006-11-03 05:57 am (UTC)(link)
With or without the cherry?

*HUGE PERVERT, YO*

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2006-11-03 02:52 pm (UTC)(link)
WITHOUT PLS. *grin*

[identity profile] dev-earl.livejournal.com 2006-11-03 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
i'm truly spoiled but it was worth it. the letter to kripke. hahahaha. oh noes. i already really feel like reaching into the screen and pull the hair off jo's poofy head but this? should i skip this episode? because if i don't get my dean winchester fix, i believe i'd die.

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2006-11-03 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
No no! Don't skip! There are some moments in there that make it kind of worth it. Like Dean's ring tone, ahaha, which is somehow classic rock. And, and, Sam's bitchface makes an appearance! We missed the precious, yes we did. :D

[identity profile] dev-earl.livejournal.com 2006-11-03 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
ah. classic rock ring tone. it amuses my ex to no end that instead of some cheesy korean love drama theme song all the chicks are having as their tones, i have ac/dc's back in black. hahaha. dean winchester owns me.

sammy's bitchface! the essential! :D

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2006-11-03 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I know. Everytime I see a sleek back car or some kind of salt, I have a mini-flail. My rooomie has taken to just indulgently rolling her eyes and trying to ignore me on Thursday nights.

[identity profile] dev-earl.livejournal.com 2006-11-03 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
my kid brother and college friends are also used to my (really) random squeeing, like i would pinch my friend's arm with excitement out of nowhere at all whenever thursday is near. XD

oh god. i just saw this: http://img76.imageshack.us/my.php?image=02ld9.jpg

and it made my week. oh, padalecki. oh, steaming hot jensen without even trying. oh.

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2006-11-03 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
HAHA I love that picture. If you would take a moment to look at Jared's legs, you would notice that they are bare. Skirt? Dress?

WE MAY NEVER KNOW. But we can dream.

[identity profile] dev-earl.livejournal.com 2006-11-03 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
we can definitely dream.

darn. i just wrote a crack fic of dean in a red maternity dress. now i have to do one of sammy with pigtails and pink scrunchies. *facepalms*

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2006-11-03 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
Or you could write one with Jared in pigtails and pink scrunchies. And Jensen's all, "Dude. You're in fucking pigtails. How are you such a loser?" so Jared gets all puffy and says, "Oh yeah? Well, well, at least I didn't dance in a kimono!" which is totally the worst thing anyone can say to Jensen and they both know it.

YES.

[identity profile] dev-earl.livejournal.com 2006-11-03 09:20 am (UTC)(link)
except we know that instead of thinking jared's a loser, jensen still wanted to jump him. inspite of the pigtails and pink scrunchies. ;)

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2006-11-03 02:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Well. Jensen likes having something to hold onto. Handlebars, if you will.

[identity profile] dev-earl.livejournal.com 2006-11-03 04:04 pm (UTC)(link)
oh - the blinding picture in my head!

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2006-11-03 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)

*kisses you on top of the head*

[identity profile] shibbyfangirl.livejournal.com 2006-11-03 08:33 am (UTC)(link)
I respectfully disagree. I didn't like Jo very much (more like neutral feelings about here) but after tonight's episode I like her even more. She has character background rather than a "hey, i'm blonde, i'll go flirt with dean!" girl...

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2006-11-03 04:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree that she's gotten a bit more background to her, and I don't think she's still the sterotypical girl, but I still don't like her.

Ah well, we'll just to have to disagree, then. :D

[identity profile] broken-bees.livejournal.com 2006-11-03 08:34 am (UTC)(link)
I couldn’t agree with you more.

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2006-11-03 04:50 pm (UTC)(link)
*snuggle*

[identity profile] dullemarulle.livejournal.com 2006-11-03 03:29 pm (UTC)(link)
*tries not to read*.. haven't seen the episode yet.

YOU ARE THE FUCKING DEFINITION OF AWESOME AND I'M ABSOLUTELY IN LOVE WITH YOU ♥♥♥

I have to run, but I still need to read all(!) your fic. Be back tomorrow :D

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2006-11-03 04:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I LOVE YOU MORE, MY BABY!!!!!!

what'd i do?

[identity profile] dullemarulle.livejournal.com 2006-11-05 09:44 am (UTC)(link)
Apart from the obvious stuff, I GOT YOUR LETTER :D:D:D:D
It is seriously the best letter ever!

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2006-11-05 06:25 pm (UTC)(link)
YAYYYYY!!!! *KERMIT FLAIL*

[identity profile] dullemarulle.livejournal.com 2006-11-05 09:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Those are the best kind ;)

[identity profile] dea-liberty.livejournal.com 2006-11-03 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I totally and utterly agree.

Jared had all of about five minutes and about three lines total. WTF?

But, admittedly, when Jo was all scared and screaming and shit, I didn't mind her so much.

But seriously. The ending made me want to hit something. How can Ellen get all "like father like son" on them when she'd been all doting in every other episode we'd seen her in? And Jo's reaction at the end? WTF? It wasn't DEAN'S fault his Dad messed up...and then she's all "please go away". Pffft.

Stupid episode. *shakes fist* Hope Kripke redeems himself in the next one.

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2006-11-03 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I kind of understand that Kripke's trying to keep with the theme that 'family is more important', but this whole john thing isn't panning out right, in my opinion. It's really unfair for Jo and Ellen to blame Dean about this, and incredibly immature.

BLAH. *annoyed face*

But, also? Your icon r0xx0rs.

[identity profile] dea-liberty.livejournal.com 2006-11-03 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
It's by [livejournal.com profile] fanaticlook :D

And yes! It is! It's completely unfair. Especially from Jo, after everything Dean did to keep her safe in that episode? And they just turn on poor Dean (and Sam with his three minutes on screen) about it...I mean, seriously. That's just stupid.

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2006-11-03 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. What the hell is her deal? It's not like they smuggled Jo away in a burlap sack. She came to them, she insisted on working the case. Dean wanted to send her home!

[identity profile] pushingyouaway.livejournal.com 2006-11-03 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I have a little song that I want you to listen to. It's from the play Producers, and it's called "Keep It Gay". Listen carefully, Teh Krip, and learn from the masters.

ZOMG I THOUGHT I COULDN'T LOVE YOU ANYMORE!

ahem...

see, after ellen went through that whole "trusting winchesters" thing i thought mebbe her and papa...you know...giggity giggity...BUT! later...while she was talking to jo? it all fell into place... poor papa! and poor mr. ellen's husband

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2006-11-03 05:39 pm (UTC)(link)
*MAKES OUT WITH YOU* ♥

and, yo, step off the boys, mama ellen. what john did or did not do has nothing to do with them, especially since they obviously didn't know about it. STEP OFF.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/__3amconfession/ 2006-11-03 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG. *didn't see this* Must. comment!

Where the hell is the Sammy love?

At least when Dean woke up, the first thing he asked was "Where's Sam?" =3 *holds moment close*

I don't even try to hide the fact that I dislike Jo at this stage. In the beginning, I was sort of, "Eh, whatever," about her, but now I just out-and-out don't like her.

She annoys me greatly for the fact that should could break up the Sam and Dean brother dynamics - so I never got around to liking her. She has pretty hair though! It does she seem liked she tried too hard, so I was happy when she told S&D to leave and... yay, they left! Besides, Dean settling down with anyone but Sam? Uh-uh. No way.

We never get the history behind the MoTW, just a sort of slipshod, "bad, evil, bait, walls, kill. woo!" It felt half-assed, and it was definitely playing third fiddle to all the different Jo and Dean interactions.

Yeah, I have a faint idea of who H.H Holmes is from the show. And the Jo/Dean interactions MAKE ME SO MAD. It could've been ten times creepier (HOMG SERIAL KILLER, WHOAH, COOL) but they began focusing on what Jo and Dean were doing and their "lets talk about our dead fathers", which is fine and dandy, but HELLO?! MURDERING SPIRIT CAPTURING PEOPLE?! You can't talk about dead people later!!

Once again, it felt half-assed, like in the previous episodes, they'd had Ellen trusting the boys implicitly and then, boom, "oh wait, we can't do that, BIG FLASHY ENDING, GUYS!"

At least it didn't end up Jo being the half-sister which some people thought (and hoped). *facepalm* JOHN WOULD NOT BETRAY HIS LOVE TO MARY BY SEXING UP A TAVERN OWNER AND NEVER TELLING HIS BOYS. EVER. And yeah, Ellen was a bit weird with the whole, "I trust you and now, NO!"

God... this episode is making me leave long ass comments on people's LJs.

But you must admit that when Jo explained her reason for hunting it was better than "I want to be near you Deeeeen, omg" or something like that.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/__3amconfession/ 2006-11-03 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
And yes, stupid Ellen for being mad at Dean and Sam. THEY ARE NOT EXACT COPIES, LIKE SERIOUSLY. Dean wanted to send Jo home and I bet he would've tethered her to his wrist if he could've. STUPID ELLEN. And I thought I could actually like one of the... um, what's their last names? XP

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2006-11-03 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Something with an H. Havellern? Something like that. Maybe. I don't know. *failure*

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/__3amconfession/ 2006-11-04 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
I remember a W... *fails*

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2006-11-03 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Did you notice how the whole episode didn't really have any urgency? Usually there's a sense of 'we have to get this done', or even 'oh holy crap he got kidnaped!' But even once Jo'd gotten herself 'napped, there wasn't that sense for me.

Maybe I'm just making this up in my head, but that's what really bugged me about the episode. It was focusing too much on little things, so much so that we didn't get any *big badness* from it. Y'know?

ZOMG YAY! ME TOO!

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/__3amconfession/ 2006-11-04 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
I felt urgency (like "OMG. How long will Sam be gone to get the damn coffee?!"). But when Jo was captured, not even the boys acting was convincing enough for me to be get worried. I just sat there thinking, "Well... she can't die, really."

Yes - little things. IT WAS THE JO/DEAN LITTLE THINGS AND I JUST WANT TO KICK THINGS.
