Okay, so, feel free to throw tomatos at me
I thought this episode sucked. Like a hoover. Why, you ask?
1) Where the hell is the Sammy love? We got probably three full scenes with him, if that, which, okay you want to focus an episode on Dean? Fabulous, I fully support that idea, make sure you get some close ups of his freckles. But isn't the whole mytharc supposed to be (mostly) about Sam? At least, that was my impression, what with Kripke throwing those anvils at us from time to time. I understand Jared hurt his hand and that probably had something to do with his air time, but they do pick-up scenes all the time, they couldn't add him in a little bit more? Seriously, it was just his hand.
2) I don't even try to hide the fact that I dislike Jo at this stage. In the beginning, I was sort of, "Eh, whatever," about her, but now I just out-and-out don't like her. She's far from a Mary Sue (dude, I'm from the HP fandom), but there's something about her that bugs me. I think some of it might be the actress, actually, because I keep wishing the girl who played Jessica could have been her instead. Alona Tal's face...just, it makes me want to yell at her or something, I don't know. Anney and I spent most of the show capslocking at her, telling her to NOT GO DOWN THERE, and to STOP BEING SO STUPID.
3) The plot of this episode could have been so fantastic, guys--FANTASTIC. The first recorded serial killer executed right under them, taking pretty blonde things and hiding them somewhere inside the walls. So. Much. Potential. Squandered! We never get the history behind the MoTW, just a sort of slipshod, "bad, evil, bait, walls, kill. woo!" It felt half-assed, and it was definitely playing third fiddle to all the different Jo and Dean interactions.
4) That's another thing: sure, the main backbone of this show is characters relating to each other and being psychologically rich, but did we really need every scene that involved Jo and Dean to be so "im in ur face messin wit ur emotionz"? And the end? Wasn't really a shocker. Both Anney and I had it figured by by the knife scene, and I bet most of you did, too. Once again, it felt half-assed, like in the previous episodes, they'd had Ellen trusting the boys implicitly and then, boom, "oh wait, we can't do that, BIG FLASHY ENDING, GUYS!"
ETA: Haha, I just scrolled through my AIM window with Anney and I thought this was funny--
Dear Kripke,
I have a little song that I want you to listen to. It's from the play Producers, and it's called "Keep It Gay". Listen carefully, Teh Krip, and learn from the masters.
Ever Faithful,
Mel

Mel: Oh, not that's not conspicuous at all. There's more, but I really am not being articulate. So, in closing:
Anney: All the people are like, "ARE THEY LOOKING FOR TREASURE?"
Mel: Ha, listen to it beep. Even their detector is a fan of metal.
Anney: OH MY GOD.

Jared had all of about five minutes and about three lines total. WTF?
But, admittedly, when Jo was all scared and screaming and shit, I didn't mind her so much.
But seriously. The ending made me want to hit something. How can Ellen get all "like father like son" on them when she'd been all doting in every other episode we'd seen her in? And Jo's reaction at the end? WTF? It wasn't DEAN'S fault his Dad messed up...and then she's all "please go away". Pffft.
Stupid episode. *shakes fist* Hope Kripke redeems himself in the next one.

BLAH. *annoyed face*
But, also? Your icon r0xx0rs.

And yes! It is! It's completely unfair. Especially from Jo, after everything Dean did to keep her safe in that episode? And they just turn on poor Dean (and Sam with his three minutes on screen) about it...I mean, seriously. That's just stupid.

ZOMG I THOUGHT I COULDN'T LOVE YOU ANYMORE!
ahem...
see, after ellen went through that whole "trusting winchesters" thing i thought mebbe her and papa...you know...giggity giggity...BUT! later...while she was talking to jo? it all fell into place... poor papa! and poor mr. ellen's husband

and, yo, step off the boys, mama ellen. what john did or did not do has nothing to do with them, especially since they obviously didn't know about it. STEP OFF.

Where the hell is the Sammy love?
At least when Dean woke up, the first thing he asked was "Where's Sam?" =3 *holds moment close*
I don't even try to hide the fact that I dislike Jo at this stage. In the beginning, I was sort of, "Eh, whatever," about her, but now I just out-and-out don't like her.
She annoys me greatly for the fact that should could break up the Sam and Dean brother dynamics - so I never got around to liking her. She has pretty hair though! It does she seem liked she tried too hard, so I was happy when she told S&D to leave and... yay, they left! Besides, Dean settling down with anyone but Sam? Uh-uh. No way.
We never get the history behind the MoTW, just a sort of slipshod, "bad, evil, bait, walls, kill. woo!" It felt half-assed, and it was definitely playing third fiddle to all the different Jo and Dean interactions.
Yeah, I have a faint idea of who H.H Holmes is from the show. And the Jo/Dean interactions MAKE ME SO MAD. It could've been ten times creepier (HOMG SERIAL KILLER, WHOAH, COOL) but they began focusing on what Jo and Dean were doing and their "lets talk about our dead fathers", which is fine and dandy, but HELLO?! MURDERING SPIRIT CAPTURING PEOPLE?! You can't talk about dead people later!!
Once again, it felt half-assed, like in the previous episodes, they'd had Ellen trusting the boys implicitly and then, boom, "oh wait, we can't do that, BIG FLASHY ENDING, GUYS!"
At least it didn't end up Jo being the half-sister which some people thought (and hoped). *facepalm* JOHN WOULD NOT BETRAY HIS LOVE TO MARY BY SEXING UP A TAVERN OWNER AND NEVER TELLING HIS BOYS. EVER. And yeah, Ellen was a bit weird with the whole, "I trust you and now, NO!"
God... this episode is making me leave long ass comments on people's LJs.
But you must admit that when Jo explained her reason for hunting it was better than "I want to be near you Deeeeen, omg" or something like that.

Maybe I'm just making this up in my head, but that's what really bugged me about the episode. It was focusing too much on little things, so much so that we didn't get any *big badness* from it. Y'know?
ZOMG YAY! ME TOO!

Yes - little things. IT WAS THE JO/DEAN LITTLE THINGS AND I JUST WANT TO KICK THINGS.
