moo ha ha

All right, I'm curious. What do you guys think is the most attractive thing to smell on another person? Perfume, natural soap? Shampoo? Is there a particular scent you find particularly sexy or soothing? For instance, I think lavender is a gorgeous smell, and I love it on other people, but I find sandalwood way sexier, even though it's not that common as a pure scent. Thoughts?

Oh, and I uploaded this for [livejournal.com profile] kashmir1 (who is calling out for moosic, guys, spam her omg!), but some of you might get a kick out of it: The Beets - Killer Tofu. Yes, the one from DOUG!!

God, men's cologne in general is ridiculously hot, but I especially like Aqua di Gio. I don't know... I like more earthy smells on guys. I also love the smell of shampoo. Seriously. lol. For me though, I like lighter citrus or exotic flower scents. While I love roses, I hate flowery perfume...it makes me think of grandmas. lol. I have to agree, lavender is gorgeous but I wouldnt' wear it as a perfume, I'd fall asleep! hehe. Alright, that's enough rambling. I seriously need to stop using ellipses too.

KILLER TOFU!!! *jumps you*

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2007-03-05 03:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm with you on the earthy smells. I really despise Axe and Tag sprays - especially when the dudes bathe in the crap and you get a headache just walking past them. Never actually caught a whiff of Aqua di Gio, though. Is it like Curve or something?

I'm just curious because my dad's girlfriend told me I smelled spicy yesterday, and I'm not sure...is that a good thing? Um?

[identity profile] coverd-n-rain.livejournal.com 2007-03-05 03:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know what Curve smells like, but Aqua is just...I love it. I smell it and all I think is "omg, man" and just melt its thoroughly ridiculous. I've gotten to the point that I'm walking down the street and when I smell it I'm like, "omg, where is he? *frantic searching*" lol.

Spicy is good! Actually, I'm in the middle of a search for a new fragrance. I've worn Anna Sui, Sui Dreams for years now and, while I love it, I really want something new and sexy. All the girls in my family wear Clinique and Chanel, and I really want something more me. Any suggestions?

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2007-03-05 03:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Well I'm not a big perfume wearer, myself, since I used scented soap, but I can reccommend Cool Waters (http://www.mysimon.com/9015-10952_8-22956875.html), which is sort of subtle and smooth smelling. It's not really floral, more of a...I don't even know how to describe it, hahah. It smells almost like rain on hot pavement with a hint of tang?

[identity profile] coverd-n-rain.livejournal.com 2007-03-06 12:47 pm (UTC)(link)
ooo, thanks! I'll check it out when I go shopping!

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2007-03-05 03:54 pm (UTC)(link)
And, dude, completely ignore the way they're describing it on the site I sent you to. They fail.

[identity profile] polyspaston.livejournal.com 2007-03-05 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
It might sound wierd, but I actually like the smell of sweat on a bloke. I don't think you can get that in bottles, though.

However, I also like Brut, that stuff that comes in green bottles? Because a) it smells like my dad and b) to me it actually does smell like sweat :0P I think it's cos my dad used to work outside a lot so the two sort of go hand in hand. I love those green bottles. They make me think of home :0P

And it sounds chavvy, but I also like Tommy cos Geoff used to wear it when we fist met. Reminds me of that summer!!

I also like the smell of my grandad's coat that used to live in the cupboard. It smelled of the previous day's Old Spice and Brylcreem, and the cupboard. I'll not ever smell that again, but I don't think I'll forget it easily...

The word smell is really quite cool. I think it is my new favourite :0P

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2007-03-05 03:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I admit to having never smelled either of those colognes. But the sweat thing is curious. Male sweat always smells like cornchips to me! I think I'm strange.

[identity profile] polyspaston.livejournal.com 2007-03-05 04:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Male sweat just smells like sex, to me. I think that's why ;0)

I also love the smell of horses eating hay. Mainly cos then you get the sound of horses eating hay, along with the smell of hay and the smell of horses, and it's all just one big theraputic...thing. Horses are good for the soul :0P

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2007-03-05 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I have not been really around horses that much, ever, but the few times I have, definitely yes. They're just all around lovely animals, yeah? All calm and huge and beautiful. :)

[identity profile] polyspaston.livejournal.com 2007-03-05 04:13 pm (UTC)(link)
And stupid. Stupidest animals going, horses. But they're kinda powerful too, so that's not always the best combination. But when they're eating and happy they're certainly calm and huge and beautiful ;0). I had this horse once, Kimmy, BEAUTIFUL beautiful girl, but she was a bit mad, and she hated everyone, so I used to just spend all my spare time sitting in her stable with her and grooming her and fussing around her and that, and one day I went to catch her from the field and she was just lying down in the grass, and I was only about twelve at the time, and I remember it was a gorgeous sunny morning and I didn't have the heart to get her up, so I went and lay in the grass with her, and put my head on her cheek, and it was just lovely. After a while she got too uncomfortable and let me put the headcollar on if it meant I'd get off her, I think it was the easiest time I'd ever had trying to catch her :0P Should have done that more often...

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2007-03-05 04:24 pm (UTC)(link)
AWWWWWW!! that is the sweetest thing I've heard all week.

[identity profile] polyspaston.livejournal.com 2007-03-05 04:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee! Aww I miss my Kimmy, she was great. Spent SO much time with her. She used to just gallop, it was fantastic. You'd start off at the bottom of a hill and she'd bomb off up to the top and jump whatever might stand in her way. It came from being a psycho horse.

Man. I used to be fearless :0P I hate being old!

I hate, hate hate hate hate hate perfumes and body sprays and cologne. I think whoever invented such things should be SHOT, except he/she's probably already dead. Especially when you're standing in line somewhere on a hot day and the person in front of you just reeks of something chemical and artificial - ugh. I think my main reason for this vehement hate of fake-smell is because I absolutely love an individual's natural smell. I love the smell of people's hair especially, it's always totally unique to the person and very telling, I think, of who they are. I'm also not freaked out by body odor (provided it's not, y'know, knock-you-over powerful) and the smell of sweat and so on, because really, I think those things smell earthy and natural and good. It all adds to an individual person's unique little flair. I feel like if I can't smell how you really smell, I can't get to know you as well.

I realize my take on smell is pretty strange, however. And, having made my tirade against fake-smell, I will admit that I don't usually mind smells that linger from things like shampoo and lotion and so on. Because those things are soft, not overpowering, and I think they blend with an individual's scent rather than masking it.

Hahah, sorry, this is like, way longer than your post itself. :P

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2007-03-05 04:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree to a certain point, definitely. Anything that's so powerful you can smell them as soon as they come into a room is pretty much disgusting - Axe for instance? Is the grossest thing ever, in my opinion, and guys practically use an entire bottle every day. BAD IDEA. Body sprays don't bother me quite as much, though, as long as they're not, like, cotton candy or something ridiculous like that. Some people can pull off gentle floral scents like lilac or lavender or jasmine and have it sort of become their scent, which is lovely.

Um. I think I'm pretty much saying what you've said but with different words. In conclusion: I AGREE WITH YOU. \o/

[identity profile] longleggedgit.livejournal.com 2007-03-05 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Hahaha I think you're right. So YAYES. *\o/*

*grin*

[identity profile] iamzulma.livejournal.com 2007-03-05 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
oooooo. umm. i do not like cologne on men, and prefer the clean and fresh smell. some men's deodorants are pretty strong, though, and sometimes i mistake them for cologne, ha. i don't wear perfume myself anymore.

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2007-03-05 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Men should smell like men, I totally agree. They shouldn't smell like...whatever it is they put in cologne to make it "sexy".

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/__3amconfession/ 2007-03-05 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
It may seem weird, but I love how people smell when they come in to a building when it's really really cold outside. Or maybe I just love how I smell - I think it's just pretty.

Yeeah.

*slinks away*

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2007-03-05 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Ohhh, I love that smell! Especially when it's windy and you can practically smell the ozone on them. *harts*

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/__3amconfession/ 2007-03-05 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG YIS. *does not feel as weird*

[identity profile] 22by7.livejournal.com 2007-03-05 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
sandalwood, apples, a certain kind of sharp, coppery sweat-smell certain men and women have. confidence.

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2007-03-06 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
mmm, definitely agree!

[personal profile] splits_thesky 2007-03-05 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
In most cases, I'd just say the smell of soap - like, not overpowering, just sort of lightly there. That, mixed with - well, the smell of boy (haha, I don't know how else to put it!) = ♥

My one guy friend, I don't know what he does, but he always smells amaaaaaaazing. I know sometimes he wears cologne (which one, I can't remember right now, for some reason), but sometimes he swears he doesn't, so either he's lying, or he just smells that good naturally.

Oh, and! I just remembered. My other friend, her older brother has this stuff, I believe. We always used to sneak into his room and spray some on ourselves, I remember, just because we were losers like that. So anyway, because of that, my friend bought me this for Christmas last year, and it smells so nice. Like - *sniffs* - well, the description on the site's pretty close, actually.

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2007-03-06 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
i have never smelled that stuff, although i guess by walking past holister i've gotten a whiff or two? but! i know exactly what you mean about the boy-smell. one of my friends had this shampoo or something and whenever we took off his sweatshirt or did anything like that, you were just hit by this HUGE WAVE of knee-wobbling, delicious scent.

[identity profile] darksybarite.livejournal.com 2007-03-06 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
I don't like "perfumes" as a general rule, but I'm addicted to BlackPhoenix fragrances! All natural essential oils and things, in bizarre combinations... I was feeling pink and girly today, so the one I have on is amber, heliotrope, golden sandalwood, peach blossom and vanilla bean. No weird chemical fixatives or alcohols or anything, it's just subtle and lovely.

I remember liking Eternity on boys, when I was still liking boys, and I like spicy/foody scents on women... if you smell like you just made coffee cake, I'm all over you!

:)

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2007-03-06 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Oooh, essential oils! I've never met anyone who uses them since they're so strong. Does BlackPhoenix dilute them down so they're not so overwhelming?

[identity profile] talilov.livejournal.com 2007-03-06 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
Nice perfume, really nice shampoo. I have yet to smell a sweaty boy and enjoyed it...pheromones WHAT?! I sat next to a girl who smelt like garlic in a lecture today. Not her breath..just like...her whole body, lmfao. Musk is a nice smell. Yeah, I got nothing. I like natural smells, light and natural.

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2007-03-06 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
GARLIC. i often smell like garlic in my mouthal area. because i eat it with great enjoyment quite a lot. however, my clothes do not smell like garlic. they smell like...detergent. or, if i'm in a very good mood, they smell like lavender. \o/

DID YOU GET MY EMAIL TALI OH TALI?

[identity profile] talilov.livejournal.com 2007-03-07 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
I DID NOT RECIEVE ANY EMAILS OF THE EMAIL KIND!! NOTHING FROM A MEL OR A JOSE TO BE SEEN IN MY INBOX! OH NOES!! :(

[identity profile] rachelsm.livejournal.com 2007-03-06 12:23 pm (UTC)(link)
i like men's cologne... but, honestly, men can't use the stuff. they bathe in that shit and smell horrible most of the time. ><

i was a fan of that kenzo perfume... that "flower" one... but got sick of it after some time (i can't use perfume... i'm not a proper girl :(

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2007-03-06 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
*HUGS* if that's so, i'm not a proper girl, either. perfume makes me go boom in the head department. and, YES, guys need to take a class or something about how to wear cologne properly.

[identity profile] peccare.livejournal.com 2007-03-07 11:06 am (UTC)(link)
vanilla is always nice on girls. i dont know about boys? nice old school cologne, i guess?
