SGA 4x04: Doppleganger
Guys, how are you so amazing? I don't deserve you. Thanks to everyone who wished me a happy birthday and wrote me fic and picspammed in my honor and sent me e-gifts. I'm gonna draw up a booty list (heee, I said booty) later, but right now: STARGATE ATLANTIS, oh my god. I am a totally whore for this show, and therefore I didn't wait until today to see this episode, but GOD, still so amazing. Even on the seventeenth watch.

- The Hitchhiker's reference John made slayed me. Actually, the entire first scene slayed me. Rodney has a bet on with Zelenka! Teyla can read him well enough to know it! Ronon is cranky! John steps in something gross and makes the greatest face in the history of the world and then touches something he shouldn't! Go team!
- The fact that in Teyla's dream, Rodney just sort of wanders by to say "I'm getting some strange energy readings" made me snort, for whatever reason. It's so absurd and yet so true. And then John! Back in his sith costume! I bet Joe wasn't very happy about putting all that make up on again, poor thing. OH WELL, because I squealed like a little girl when he swooped in like so:
- It was really interesting the way they used POV camera work this episode. We get that shot above, and we also get a strikingly similar one in Ronon's nightmare:
Of course, the expression is a wee bit different (*cough*), but considering we don't usually get shots with characters looking straight into the camera like that, and that John is about to seriously fuck Ronon up, I think it's really pretty cool. - Rodney's secret fear of Moby Dick, ahahah. How adorable can one man possibly be before I burst? It's getting kind of ridiculous.
- I admit it. I completely covered my eyes during the Teyla tummy scene. That was just. LEGS. Too many of them!
- I flailed at the screen and had to pause when Ronon's turn came along because AHHH Ronon's nightmare is that Atlantis is abandoned! And then he has to go run again and then John BURIES him ALIVE and. *flaps arms* RONON DEX I LOVE YOUUU. The fact that John got in a swing at him well enough to get him stitches makes my heart stutter with glee. CANONICALLY JOHN DOES NOT ALWAYS GET HIS BUTT KICKED. \o/
- LORNE SLEEPWALKS. BARE FEET! *explodes messily all over the place*
- Rodney refusing to sit down! WHY ARE YOU SO PRECIOUS? And the fact that he didn't once smarmily hit on Carter made me happy. Rodney is growing as a character! ♥♥♥
- Maybe this is wrong of me, but I was totally digging all the femmeslash vibes this ep. I've always secretly in my dark little heart thought, "Hm, Teyla and Kate, hm," and! and also! The Keller/Carter new-girls-band-together thing? Very much with the yay.
- The fact that Teyla was in Kate's dream and no one else was made me go a little gooey inside. Does anyone know any good Teyla/Kate fic? I mean, now the point is obviously a little moot, but...from before? Sigh. I'll miss Kate. She was oddly spacey and she looked better with light hair, but she was always a good time when she came around. :(
- There were so many tiny things in this episode that made me flail around madly: the Radek-Rodney shuffle around Keller; "I am a science team!"; the team always meeting up for meals; Rodney's complete inability to be discreet when John asks about Teyla's dream; how no one seems to be in the least surprised when Rodney brings up the Moby Dick story again; lemon chicken, zelenka promotion! oh Rodney; the way John says kaleidoscope; Ronon's darling little smirk when he practically picks Rodney up; the fact that John didn't even need to say anything to make Ronon do that; how, even though the end is trying to make it seem like they are, Carter and Keller aren't really part of the in-group yet; "Oooh, yes, Mr. Wizard, we're just gonna snap our fingers and -"; John's feet hanging off the end of his bed; how awkward John is when he and Teyla hug; the sort of dull, flat voice John has when he says, "It's in Rodney?" like he doesn't actually want to believe it; the clown! ahahaha; "Thanks." "I haven't done anything yet." "For trying." Okay, maybe I sort of veered there, but you get it.
- God, there is so much in Rodney's dream I can't even deal. The fact that Rodney just looks so LOST when he says, "Because I thought you..." I MEAN, COME ON, GUYS. *continues flailing*
- And then, Jesus, JESUS, the look on John's face when Keller says Rodney is dead.
- His quiet little broken, "I tried." OH MY GOD. I just. *hands over mouth*
- RODNEY BEING SO BRAVE, walking right into John's HEAD and SAVING him. He's not dead! It's alright, John!
- On a completely shallow note: TWO SHEPPARDS. FIGHTING. *gurgles helplessly* Oh my god, John playing at evil towards the end there - like, full on badassery, not the piddly little smirky grin he did in the beginning (though that was sexy too, oh yeah)...fj;awogjaw;ofmga;wo jfaiwojgfjawg;oijwfJAGWIPFPIAGJW MFIPJGA!!! JOE SHOULD BE EVIL MORE OFTEN. Holy. Christ.
Orgy in the comments. Seriously. - This may have just in fact pulled into my number two spot of favorite shippy episodes. It'll be a little while before I see if it can overtake Tao of Rodney, because that is some seriously wonderful stuff right there, but, uh, FIC MIGHT HELP. Mmhm. In conclusion:

Guess what I read about Kate was true. And Rodney in John's mind? Oh, the fic. I await the fic.
How strange is it that I want to see a John/Rodney fight? Not bantering, but a real fight. Say... John's holding back because he doesn't really want to hurt Rodney, but Rodney's pissed/possessed/whatever and is just going all out. That would be hot.

And while I will alwasy love McShep, I have a soft spot for McDex, even as just friends. They bicker so well together. Remember when Rodney was saying about he kept having the nightmares about whales?
Ronon: You still have them, don't you?
Rodney: Yes.
Ha ha, they know each other so well. The beginning scene, the "I AM A SCIENCE TEAM!", the later mention of that again, the ending... Love it. *snuzzles SGA*
And I'm digging the femslash, too. I've not been as much into it as slash, but I'm digging it definitely. =D
John's look when they said Rodney died. That was one of the best acted looks of shock I've ever seen. The Flan has more than earned my love.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! Seriously, just hearing that makes me squirm in my seat. Just that single word and everything he packs into it! I may have obsessively watched and rewatched the beginning of this ep just for that. And for how much it says TEAM LOVE. Like how in sync are they? How well do they work together? IT'S RIDICULOUS!
(Where are you? We need to rewatch this. And maybe possibly A Dog's Breakfast too. AND OMG THE NEWEST SPN BECAUSE IT IS AWESOME!)
