-A Map and Then You Lose Your Way by ignipes (Sam/Dean,PG-13) ~1300 words
"Sam doesn't have a scar fetish. He just likes to know his way around."  This story is sweet and tender, but still so in-character it's ridiculous.

-A Stand-Up Man by alethialia (Gen, PG) ~4124 words
"Cross country snarkiness." Absolutely spot-on characterization. Sam and Dean are such absolutely loveable, ridiculous boys that I have to laugh out loud, and there are just too many amazing lines to try and actually quote something.

-Almost Lost by darkhavens (Sam/Dean, R) ~537 words
Sam does something stupid; Dean gets mad and punishes Sam in the best possible way. This is a short one, but, oo, does it pack a nice wallop. Very hot. 

-And That Has Made All the Difference by lyra_wing (Dean/Sam, R) ~1519 words
All fic should be like this. Lyra always sticks these small, seemingly inconsequential details in her stories that just grab your heart and squeeze, hard. "They eventually fall asleep like that, laughing and murmuring sleepy nonsense, so tangled up in each other that Sam can't tell where he ends and where Dean begins."

-Bad Moon by whereupon (Gen, G) ~695 words
Pure, heartwrenching poetry in prose form. Her boys never fail to kick me in the stomach.

-Books of the Living, Books of the Dead by poisontaster (Gen, PG-13) ~1100 words
I have to admit that poisontaster is probably one of my favorite fic authors of all time, so I might be a little biased. Having said that, this makes me grin for hours every time I read it. Just the right mix of sweetness and regret.

-Border Crossings by ignipes (light Sam/Dean, PG-13) ~2400 words
I. Um. I don't think I even have any words for this story. Even if you normally stay away from Sam/Dean, read this anyway. It is so beautiful and painful and perfect. If ignipes asked me, I would do absolutely anything for her. Just because of this story.

-Brother, What a Fight it Really Was by trollprincess (Gen, PG-13) ~6700 words
This is another one that blows my mind. Set post-Devil's Trap, and I honestly have no idea how trollprincess comes up with this stuff.  Creepy and amazing. "The sun's shining. The Impala's in one undamaged piece. The truck's gone. And Dean and Dad are nowhere to be found."

Hi! I had to delete my post over at spn_gleeweek because I couldn't traverse the comments! My screen keeps freezing, and it's driving me crazy! Anyway, I'd like to add you as a friend, if that's all right with you. :))

As for your comment about prolific fic writers, YES, I'd love to know their secrets! I'm much too intimidated to even attempt to write a fic in the fandom, everyone is truly so wonderful!

No, I'm just sort of getting my feet wet in fandom right now. I've been lurking around for a few months, but with the second season I maybe-kinda might actually start getting involved. Yay!

yay for getting more involved! as many ficcers as the fandom has, we can always meet more, right?? i have a feeling we are gonna see an influx of fics after the new season starts, and that makes me REALLY excited!!! :))
