hi. this is a big post.
I've never done one of these before. I'm strangely exhilarated! General spoilers for the beginning of the second season, I guess, and also a sort of vague reference to The Secret. Although, if you don't know it already, I have no idea what you're doing here. You should be watching Playthings right now.
1. If you could have lunch with Sam and Dean and ask them one question each, what would they be?
Ooh, interesting. [Dean]: I know you'd be willing to give yourself up in a heartbeat to bring John back under other circumstances, but what about Sam - would you be willing to trade him for John if there was no catch, just a purely even trade? [Sam]: If the situation was turned around and Dean was the one turned evil, would you be able to kill him?
2. If the boys weren't limited to US locations, what other town would you like to see them investigate, and why?
I would love to see them anywhere in the UK - especially Ireland. I have such a huge fascination with Celtic folklore and mythology it's almost legendary, and I think that by putting the boys in situations with deeper roots, more history, it would bring an entirely different element to their dynamic, how they do things. Not to say that American folklore isn't historical, but you read books about Celtic mythology and it's more real, if that makes any sense. Not too long ago, it wasn't even considered mythology, it was considered fact. That, in my opinion, has a huge impact on how it would be portrayed, how the boys would have to approach hunting and destroying whatever the bad thing was. And, also, I think the shades of gray would be a lot harder to discern, blah blah conflict yaye.
3. Do you believe that Mary's death at the beginning of this series was "fated", or could she possibly have stayed alive if only she'd remained in bed?
Loaded question, man, because we have to admit - we don't really know what the demon was after, do we? Maybe it's true that Mary was a sort of sacrifice; maybe the demon killed Mary because she interrupted his kidnapping of baby Sammy; maybe she was just in the wrong place at the wrong time and nothing would have happened to the family at all - they would have never known demons existed, they would have lived on without a tragedy marring the boys' childhoods. Who's to say, right? Kripke keeps shooing us in one direction and then pointing out an exception to his own rule. And that sounds like a total cop out, but it's all I've got, because I can't imagine Kripke didn't do it for a reason. Sadistic bastard.
4. What do you think is the contrast between Andy Gallagher and Max Miller?
Kripke keeps talking about how much this show is about family - how the love of family can bring you through anything, yes, but also how family shapes the world around you, shapes you. I think the contrast between the two of them is just another facet of that. Max grew up horribly. He was abused and neglected and just generally treated like shit by everyone around him. So, when he learned about his powers, he naturally tried to lash out against the biggest [perceived] threat in his life. Andy grew up in a pretty nondescript way, from what we were told, even though his biological mother wasn't the one who actually did the rearing. That showed in the way he acted when he finally got his powers. He used them to do petty little things: get a car he liked, score with a girl, grab a cup of coffee. I'm rambling like a lot, so my conclusion is: the two of them are different in the way things around them worked, but I think they're similar in that they acted on human instinct. You gain an advantage, you use it in whatever way you think you need to. Andy was just as willing to kill as Max was, in the end.
5. What do you think of Season Two so far?
I love it. I love everything about it, even though I sometimes complain in the back of my mind about the lighting or the fact that we have YET to get our CPR, are you listening, Eric? I'm pretty sure I'd be happy with whatever I got, though, because even though I love our show to a truly ridiculous degree, I watch because of fandom and how talented everyone in it is. I never would have gotten into the show without finding and reading some incredible fic - which there is so much more of, every single day. ♥
And, apparently, this post is all about the numbers!

If you've never listened to Bjork before, maybe because you thought she was too weird or you heard one of her..um, 'out there' ones and you've been scared off, this is the perfect album for you. It's delicate and most of the songs touch a part of you that runs deep. Download it, listen a few times through before you make a decision about it. I never would have thought Bjork was for me, but this CD convinced me otherwise, so I'm passing it on.
*Note: Listen to cocoon with your eyes closed; it's gorgeous.

- I can't believe we've only just met. Honestly, what did I do with all my time before you came around? I set my alarm clock for you, and that is seriously a high honor. You're fabulous and you never laugh (well sometimes you laugh) when I tell you something I wanna try. I hope you know how much I love you, because, man, alarm clock.
- We don't talk all that much anymore, and I'm not sure why. No, that's a lie, I know exactly why. You're incredible and talented and I sometimes feel like everything I say around you is stupid because you're just - you're so wonderful and I don't measure up, not at all.
- What do I say about you that I haven't said a million times over? Hysterical doesn't even begin to describe you, because, really, you've made me choke on my soda at least four times. You're gorgeous and sweet and talented and I can't imagine going back six months and not having you. I love you THIS MUCH, and your boy better recognize prior claim.
- I admit that when we first met, you sort of frightened me because I couldn't figure out if you even liked me or if you just hung around because I was fun to play with. But it's been a while, now, and I can truly say that I adore you in so many ways it's insane. You're my go-to girl when I need a pick-me-up. Just looking at your journal makes me grin uncontrollably.
- You and I are sort of new, so talking with you still gives me tiny knots in my stomach. We click really well, though, and I love listening to you ramble on about anything and everything. I learn something new every day, you enabler, you. Oh, and when I say I'm blushing, I completely am. You are shameless, sweetie.
- I think adorable is pretty much the word I'd use to describe you. We have ruts sometimes when we don't talk for a while, but once we get going, you make me laugh and you make me blush - it's just a generally good time. You've been there from the beginning, encouraging me and helping me along. You mean so much.
I am a freaking sap, aren't I? Ooze ooze ooze, let me get my emotions all over you, come closer. Guess your number and win a prize, by the way! And now, some music, because it rules my life to a pretty amazing degree.
