tell me your life story!

While recovering from my brush with Joe Flanigan-induced death, I had a thought: most of you I barely know anything about, even fannishly. This thought saddened me. So! Copy and paste if you'd like (it's conveniently coded!), or feel free to go all crazy and build me a time line. Extra points awarded for squiggly fonts.

Ahaha, this sounds like a sex questionnaire, woops. (ETA: um, sorry about that coding glitch! Fixed now.) I'll start! Beware the tl;dr.

1. What was your first brush with fandom - TV, movie, book, anime, etc.? How old were you? Sailor Moon was my first fandom - shut up, I was, like, eleven.

2. How did you find fandom (as an internet entity)? It was kind of an accident. I was looking for pictures of Usagi and Mamorou to print out and paste on my notebooks (see: eleven), and I found a site that had a little button on the side. It said "fanfiction". Curiosity has always been a problem for me, so I clicked, and it's been all downhill since then.

3. Was livejournal your first fannish home? If not, how were you involved? God, this is so embarrassing, but I was on fanfiction.net and yahoo!groups and had a dinky little angelfire website on which I stored horrible drawings and truly terrible fanfic. You really have no idea how bad it was. I was thirteen and writing het sex - let that sink in for a minute.

4. How many fandoms have you been in since your first? If you can, list them. This is by no means a complete list, because I had a tendency to drift towards anything that struck my fancy before I hit Harry Potter a few years ago, but - Sailor Moon, Gundam Wing, Digimon, Pokemon, Dragon Ball Z, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Card Captor Sakura, Harry Potter (Harry/Hermione), The Libertines, Lord of the Flies, Interview With a Vampire (ahahaha oh god), Popslash, Lord of the Rings, LotRips, Good Omens, Discworld, Harry Potter (slash), Pirates of the Carribean, CSI: Las Vegas, Supernatural/RPS, Kingdom Hearts, Torchwood, Panic at the Disco, Firefly, Stargate: Atlantis. Do you see now why I lack fannish shame?

5. If you participate in fandom actively (aka, you aren't a lurker), what's your role? Author, artist, beta, commenter, enabler, etc. I like to think I'm well-rounded, and by well-rounded I mean on crack. Mostly, though, I write fic and force people to do the same. Oh, and I flirt a lot.

6. If you're a slasher, what was your first slash pairing and why? Did you find slash first? I can actually trace it back to the exact moment. I was trolling through fiction alley, and I somehow found [livejournal.com profile] mistful's stories. It's possible I was on a Hermione/Draco kick at that point, because I found it so hilariously intriguing, and so I read her story Draco Malfoy, The Amazing Bouncing Rat. When I'd finished, I was so enamored of her and her writing style that I instantly clicked over to read the rest of the stories without checking the summaries or anything, and accidentally ended up reading one of the great epic Harry/Draco stories, Underwater Light. Insta-slasher! Oh, I was so wee. Little did I know the messes I'd get into. Awww.

1. What was your first brush with fandom - TV, movie, book, anime, etc.? How old were you? Technically, I was, like 10. And it was a really bad Harry Potter archive. I don't think it exists today, though.

2. How did you find fandom (as an internet entity)? I was searching pretty much every Harry Potter-related website EVER and came across an archive. And then I forgot about it and searched for fanfiction again when I was 13.

3. Was livejournal your first fannish home? If not, how were you involved? No, it was fanfiction.net, then FictionAlley, then LJ.

4. How many fandoms have you been in since your first? If you can, list them. Harry Potter, Jrock/Jpop, Supernatural and SPN RPS, sort-of but not really SGA

5. If you participate in fandom actively (aka, you aren't a lurker), what's your role? Author, artist, beta, commenter, enabler, etc. *is a lurker*

6. If you're a slasher, what was your first slash pairing and why? Did you find slash first? Harry/Draco. I think I still have a copy of the first slash fic I read. It had porn. I was enthralled. No, really.

:D

ETA: Stupid bolding.

Sister in Harry/Draco! Oh, what was the name of your first slash fic? I might know it! This is exciting.

1. What was your first brush with fandom - TV, movie, book, anime, etc.? How old were you? Animorphs, 2001, age 12.

2. How did you find fandom (as an internet entity)? I think I was looking for message boards and fan communities and instead I found a semi-porny fic on someone's website where Jake knocked Cassie up; I shared it with a friend and we laughed about it for a long time, and then I somehow or other found my way to ff.net and began reading fanfic, and then I started writing it.

3. Was livejournal your first fannish home? If not, how were you involved? I lived at fanfiction.net; when I began reading Dawson's Creek fic, I found my way to Pages of True Love and met [livejournal.com profile] miss_begonia, then followed her to LJ and used it as a venue to post my fic for The O.C. (my username comes from a really funny quote from the first season).

4. How many fandoms have you been in since your first? If you can, list them. Animorphs*, In a Heartbeat*, extremely brief flirtation with Degrassi fanfic at ff.net, Dawson's Creek*, The O.C.*, Harry Potter, The 4400*, House*, Doctor Who*, CWRPS, Supernatural*, Heroes*, Torchwood*, The Black Donnellys*, Firefly*, Stargate: Atlantis; I've read fanfic in all of them, and asterisks denote fandoms in which I have written & posted fanfiction -- so I suppose the grand total is 15 in the past 6 years, which is kind of a lot. They're listed in relative order of first involvement, as nearly as I can recall; currently I consider myself to be involved in Doctor Who, SPN, Heroes, TW, and SGA. I've also written fanfic for The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger, which doesn't really have much of a fandom, and have read the occasional fic in His Dark Materials, bandom, and a couple of others. My fanfiction.net page, updated when I changed my name and posted some fic from The O.C. in late '04/early '05. (http://www.fanfiction.net/u/41790/scratched_affection) MY LACK OF SHAME, LET ME SHOW YOU IT.

5. If you participate in fandom actively (aka, you aren't a lurker), what's your role? Author, artist, beta, commenter, enabler, etc.
Author, commenter, enabler, meta writer, occasional beta reader.

6. If you're a slasher, what was your first slash pairing and why? Did you find slash first? I was a het and gen only girl until I started reading HP fic in 2005-- Remus/Sirius was my first slash pairing and for awhile I was really into Harry/Draco (WHAT). Now I read almost exclusively slash pairings, simply because those are the ones that are done the best and most frequently in the circles I run in, and the ones I see the most canon basis for.

I think if I had to describe myself fannishly, I would say that I'm very much oriented towards canonically plausible, emotionally resonant fanfic where at least one penis is involved, which generally translates into OTP fic, with the occasional OT3 or OT4, and sometimes gen. (And yet, I distinctly remember, right around when I moved to LJ, not knowing what OTP meant. *wistful sigh*)

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2008-01-14 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
God, I remember Animorphs! I practically ate the entire accompanying series of novels; the local library told me I couldn't take them all out at once and I wobble-lipped them until they slipped me a few more than the limit.

1. What was your first brush with fandom - TV, movie, book, anime, etc.? How old were you? Pokemon, when I was like 10 years old.

2. How did you find fandom (as an internet entity)? Through those really old messageboards; not forums, but like one board with a bunch of threads on it that was for a Pokemon fanfiction site.

3. Was livejournal your first fannish home? If not, how were you involved? Nope. Yahoo!Groups was the main one, since I just lurked on the boards. Mostly it was RP, occasionally writing embarrassingly angsty fic.

4. How many fandoms have you been in since your first? If you can, list them. Ohh, Jesus. Let's see. Pokemon, Sailor Moon, Gundam Wing, Card Captor Sakura, Weiss Kreuz, Yami no Matsuei, Final Fantasy VII, Suikoden, Xenogears, Harry Potter, Gravitation, Angel Sanctuary, X/1999, Tokyo Babylon, Prince of Tennis (that was the big one for a while), Clover, Wish, Wraeththu, Farseer Trilogy, Wheel of Time, Zelda, Fruits Basket, Getbackers, DNAngel, Shadows of Destiny, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Lord of the Rings, Xenogears, Kingdom Hearts, the Prestige, Firefly, Stargate Atlantis, Supernatural, Torchwood. I mostly lurk a lot, or write and don't post because I am lazy.

5. If you participate in fandom actively (aka, you aren't a lurker), what's your role? Author, artist, beta, commenter, enabler, etc. Author sometimes publicly, but mostly I stick to my small circle and do all of the above, minus artist (unless I do stick figures).

6. If you're a slasher, what was your first slash pairing and why? Did you find slash first? I'm pretty sure it was Duo/Quatre from Gundam Wing. Because I thought it was hot and cute. *shallow* This was after shipping het Pokemon pairings for a while.

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2008-01-14 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
BUT QUATRE AND TROWA WERE MEANT TO BE!! Ahem. I might still have issues. Ignore me.

Actually, you know. Thinking about it. Trowa = Ronon, y/n?

Oh, this is bound to bring back memories...

1. What was your first brush with fandom - TV, movie, book, anime, etc.? How old were you? Star Wars, when I was about 10/11 years old. But the first fandom I really got into was The Matrix when I was about 11/12.

2. How did you find fandom (as an internet entity)? I think I'd read some Star Wars books, and I just had a thought one day that surely, there must be more stories like that out there on the internet, so I did a search, and stumbled across some fanfic.

3. Was livejournal your first fannish home? If not, how were you involved? No, I was around on fanfiction.net, Theforce.net (for the Star Wars of course XD), and some Matrix website/forum which I cannot remember the name of right now.

4. How many fandoms have you been in since your first? If you can, list them. Hmm, I'll try to list them. This doesn't really count fandoms that caught my interest for all of about... 2 days. Star Wars, The Matrix, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, CSI, Fullmetal Alchemist, Fruits Basket, Gravitation, Ouran High School Host Club, Firefly, Torchwood, Battlestar Galactica, Stargate SG-1, Stargate: Atlantis. That's pretty much it I think... I've only been in fandom for about 5-6 years.

5. If you participate in fandom actively (aka, you aren't a lurker), what's your role? Author, artist, beta, commenter, enabler, etc. That's a good question.... I have no idea. I mostly just hang around and offer my insights (which pretty much consist of 'LORNE' and 'DIMPLES!). I have tried a little of most of those things, and I may author a fic or two in the future... in the far, distant future. But I think my brother puts it best, "Get a job, you're a drain on society." (Just... replace society with fandom...)

6. If you're a slasher, what was your first slash pairing and why? Did you find slash first? Ok, I'm pretty sure my first slash pairing was Legolas/Aragorn (>.< I was 12!) and I don't know why. I think it was pretty much because I was dabbling in the LotR fandom, and something just drew me to them. Though, I didn't find slash first, I was writing het Matrix fanfiction way before that. Now I rarely ever read het.

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2008-01-14 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
AH! Legolas/Aragorn! There was some indefinable something there - though god knows what it was since most of the time Legolas just let his incredible elf eyes stare off into the distance as he offered some cryptic and truly elfish nugget of wisdom. Maybe it was the singing.

(Also, I appreciate your "LORNE"ing and "DIMPLES!"ing!)

1. What was your first brush with fandom - TV, movie, book, anime, etc.? How old were you?

When I was 11 I ‘founded’ a Michael J. Fox fan club with three other friends. We even made a magazine. I saw Back to the Future five times at the movies, and Alex P Keaton was my tv boyfriend.

2. How did you find fandom (as an internet entity)?

I think I first used the internet for Fannish stuff looking at sites about ‘Friends’. Then Buffy.

3. Was livejournal your first fannish home? If not, how were you involved?

I joined an email list for ‘Friends’ years ago, but I didn’t even know the word fandom then! Livejournal has been my first real ‘home’.

4. How many fandoms have you been in since your first? If you can, list them.

LoTRiPS was my first really, though I did read some Buffy fanfic and love the Whedon. Then SGA, a little Whoniverse, and am currently obsessed with Queer as Folk.

5. If you participate in fandom actively (aka, you aren't a lurker), what's your role? Author, artist, beta, commenter, enabler, etc.

Commenter, enabler, picspammer and very occasionally I write smut.

6. If you're a slasher, what was your first slash pairing and why? Did you find slash first?

Billy/Dom. Monaboyd all the way baby! I still luff them like crazy. The first pairing I ever read and my introduction to hot boy on boy action (well, vampire on vampire in this case) was Angel/Spike.

OMG Michael J Fox used to be the love of my life. No one else liked him (all girls my age were madly inlove with Take That and Leo), but for me there was no one cuter or more wonderful than Michael.

1. What was your first brush with fandom - TV, movie, book, anime, etc.? How old were you?
I've always been 'fannish' about show, but Queer As Folk US was my first 'real', internet fandom. I started out in 2004, so I was, um, 20.

2. How did you find fandom (as an internet entity)?
The Belgian network stopped airing QAF after s2, and one day I was browsing the internets, and I went looking for an episode guide, because I wanted to find out what happened in s3. My google search quickly led me to 'fanfiction' sites, and I thought 'oooh, interesting, there are STORIES about Brian and Justin on the Internets'. Afterwards I spent days/weeks reading said stories and site-jumping to find other stories. There were quite a lot of them. :|

3. Was livejournal your first fannish home? If not, how were you involved?
Yes, actually. One of the 'story sites' I stumbled upon, had a glorious rec list and tons of links led to livejournal. I read a lot of stories, but then, for some reason, a lot of writers started 'friends-locking' their lj's, so I got myself one and asked to be friended about 857421 times. (God, I was such a n00b, then. *cries*)

4. How many fandoms have you been in since your first? If you can, list them.
I'm a serial monogamists, with a few flings on the side. I spent about a year in QAF, and after that ended with the most horrible season in history, I slowly moved on to SGA fandom, where I've been spending tons of online time in. Heroes is my a bit my fandom-on-the-side, but I've distanced myself a bit, because all the fic sucks.

(ps: I have tons of shows that I watch and am semi-fannish about, which means I write ep reviews, watch vids and flail with my flist about, but QAF/SGA/Heroes are the ones where I read fic and spent/d the most time in.)

5. If you participate in fandom actively (aka, you aren't a lurker), what's your role? Author, artist, beta, commenter, enabler, etc.
I over-abuse CAPSLOCK a lot. :D

Okay, yes, I write ep commentaries, have meaningful discussions with my flist ('OMG JOHN/RODNEY IS HAWT!!' is meaningful, right?), read tons of fic, and try to get folks to write me more.

6. If you're a slasher, what was your first slash pairing and why? Did you find slash first?
Brian/Justin from QAF, which brings us to the eternal discussion: yeah, but if they made out/had sex on screen are they a 'slash' pairing? (Alternatively: John/Rodney ♥ ♥ ♥)

[identity profile] dodificus.livejournal.com 2008-01-14 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
1. My first brush with fandom? That's hard to say, I kind of associate 'fandom' exclusively with the internet community because that's how I interact with it now. But if you're just asking about the first time I felt passionate about a tv show/movie/book/whatever. I think it would have been Astro Boy back when I was in primary school. I used to have dreams about him and everything, yes, my first crush was a robot:)

2. Fandom on the internet? I was obsessed with the X Files in high school and I was pretty rabid in my desire to see Mulder and Scully get together on the show. And then when I was around 15 I read a magazine article about this thing called 'fanfiction', they were pretty dismissive about it (like: oh look what the crazy people are doing!) but I couldn't get to the public library fast enough to check it out. So, I just downloaded a whole bunch of stories from, ummm, was it gossamer? Never looked back

3. First fannish home? I've been a lurker for the majority of my experience in fandom. Checking archives (gossamer, due south archive, smallville slash archive, slashing the angel archive etc) and bookmarking authors websites.

4. Fandoms? So, this is basically fandoms I've read in a *lot*, that I'd actively go look for stories for: X Files, Due South, Buffy, Angel, The Sentinel, Smallville, LOTR, NCIS, Stargate, Alias, The Faculty, The OC, SGA, CSI, Heroes, Supernatural aaaand I'm sure there's more but I can't think of them off the top of my head:)

5.What's your role? I'm slowly trying to train myself out of being a lurker, I'm commenting a lot, trying to make up for all the amazing stories that I *didn't* comment on back in the day. I have a recs journal and I record podfic. I'm socially retarded so it's taken me over ten years to get to this point:) I don't write, I have no skills in that area.

6. Slasher? At the moment and for a very long time: YES. But when I first started reading fanfic I'd see the little link with 'slash' on it and I was so green that I thought it was a link to slasher (horror movie) type fic where everyone died and I didn't get why it was so popular. And then somehow I stumbled onto some RayK/Fraser fic...I'm pretty sure they were having sex in an elevator...and I was so horrified but fascinated all at the same time.

1. What was your first brush with fandom - TV, movie, book, anime, etc.? How old were you? TV Show (That 70s Show) and I was 22.

2. How did you find fandom (as an internet entity)? I was looking for something, anything about Jackie/Hyde as a couple during s5 of T7S and Googled 'Jackie and Hyde' and I found a fan fiction site. It was downhill from there.

3. Was livejournal your first fannish home? If not, how were you involved? It wasn't. I started posting fic at fanfiction.net and spent the first four or so months of my fandom life at Forums 4 Fans before I got a code (A CODE OMG!) to join LJ and I've been here ever since.

4. How many fandoms have you been in since your first? If you can, list them. OH MAN. Here's a list of fandoms I have either been active within the past or am currently: Lost, The OC, BTVS/ATS, LOTR, LOTR RPS, The Faculty, That 70s Show, One Tree Hill, Harry Potter, Grey's Anatomy, Arrested Development, Bones, Supernatural, CW RPS, X-Men, Entourage, Night Stalker, Firefly, Veronica Mars, Doctor Who, The Inside, Battlestar Galactica, Dexter, Heroes, Jericho, Ugly Betty, Men In Trees, Friday Night Lights, Pushing Daisies, Dirty, Sexy, Money, Stargate: Atlantis, How I Met Your Mother, Torchwood and American Idol RPS.

5. If you participate in fandom actively (aka, you aren't a lurker), what's your role? Author, artist, beta, commenter, enabler, etc. Author, beta (not a good one), commenter, enabler.

6. If you're a slasher, what was your first slash pairing and why? Did you find slash first? The first slash pairing I read was Eric/Hyde from T7S but it wasn't *MY* first slash pairing - that would actually be Seth/Ryan from The O.C.. I didn't find slash until a month or two into my journey in fandom. ;)

[identity profile] countess7.livejournal.com 2008-01-14 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
i'll start. it's a new years resolution to stop lurking.

1. What was your first brush with fandom - TV, movie, book, anime, etc.? How old were you?

oh god. i was in college. and actually, it was Rent, you know that musical on broadway. this was back during the time the original cast was still in the show and i fell so in love with the show that i HAD to seek it out online and then everything snowballed - there wasn't fanfiction (that i know of) but there was this insane email list that i obsessively checked eleventy million times a day and then we'd all meet up on the line to see the show and yeah - there was all this BNF drama (like there is) and it was fun at the time but now i think *urban camping* what the fuck was i thinking?!

2. How did you find fandom (as an internet entity)?

i guess i knew fandom existed, again i was in college, because i remember looking for stuff on my so-called life, and there it was. mostly, i read the episode transcripts.

3. Was livejournal your first fannish home? If not, how were you involved?

no, wow, seriously, no. that listserve for rent was the first - and then a few years later i got involved in Oz fandom (the crazy fucked up prison show) and there was a yahoo group, i guess, called Em City. I was around during the prospect-l days (sentinel) and i guess the second set of ray wars for dS. but i mostly lurked after Oz. there was a huge fandom implosion that i was around for and it just sucked and i still wanted to read stories but i kind of didn't want to get involved. also, my first fandom after Oz, was dS, which i went to with other friends who were also leaving Oz fandom.

4. How many fandoms have you been in since your first? If you can, list them.

ok, so Rent (even though it sort of doesn't count), Oz, Due South, Sentinel, Buffy, Popslash (in every way possible I blame Helen, we all do), Harry Potter, Smallville, Numb3rs, SGA - I often follow authors I really like, I tend to read panfandom whatever they write (Ces, Res, Helen, Julad) but i'm really not reading outside of SGA at all now. And I haven't been for over a year.

5. If you participate in fandom actively (aka, you aren't a lurker), what's your role? Author, artist, beta, commenter, enabler, etc.

well, i'm mostly a lurker. having said that, i used to do a lot of betaing in Oz and I sent a lot of feedback - i've been asked to beta in a bunch of fandoms based on some massive feedback emails i've sent, i've written a minuscule amount in dS (all on dSflashfiction and from like the first 3 challenges only) I used to send a lot of feedback in dS and then if my favorite writers wrote in other fandoms. i'm trying to stop lurking in SGA. i comment, i upload tv shows, i've made some icons, and um, i'm currently involved in a seriously long commentfic about Rodney and the Joe Flanigan character from Murphy Brown.

6. If you're a slasher, what was your first slash pairing and why? Did you find slash first?

beecher/keller all the way, baby! i did find slash first, but i was looking for it, because it was canon.

that's it, i guess. wow, i haven't thought about a lot of this stuff in awhile - i don't keep up with my old fandoms anymore, I mean if Ces or Res were to write in dS or HP, i'd read, but I don't follow the new stuff. I do, however, download the podfic for my old favorite stories.

this was fun! thanks!

1. What was your first brush with fandom - TV, movie, book, anime, etc.? How old were you? Sailor Moon. I was eleven/tweleve.

2. How did you find fandom (as an internet entity)? My best friend was on the computer looking up Sailor Moon pics (she had this thing throughout middle school and high school where she had to have every picture known to man of her favorite cartoon shows) and I was lounging out with a book, as I am wont to do. She was all, "Hey, Rose, there are stories on the internet. See?" And bye, bye went my free time forever and ever and ever amen.

3. Was livejournal your first fannish home? If not, how were you involved? Fanfiction.net. *shrug* I also wandered around people's websites, following link pages to link pages, etc. I found LJ in college.

4. How many fandoms have you been in since your first? If you can, list them. Ha. Um. I have no real idea of order or if I even remember all of them, but. Here goes (major ones bolded): Sailor Moon, Popslash (BSB, then NSYNC), Gundam Wing Star Trek: Enterprise and Voyager, Star Wars: Episode One, Buffy/Angel, Sentinal, due South, Harry Potter (any and all pairings, but mostly Harry/Snape), Supernatural, Stargate Atlantis, Torchwood, Die Hard 4.0: Live Free or Die Hard, Mac Commercials and Bandom (the really, really new one). I'm fairly certain there are more out there.

5. If you participate in fandom actively (aka, you aren't a lurker), what's your role? Author, artist, beta, commenter, enabler, etc. I write, but most of my stuff never sees the light of day/the 'net. I'm working on that. I beta for a few friends, I comment anytime I actually remember (I was so bad before LJ, seriously. It took me years to figure out e-mail. I was a sad , sad, bookish teenager.), and enable as much as I possibly can.

6. If you're a slasher, what was your first slash pairing and why? Did you find slash first? My first slash pairing, that I can distinctly remember and actually wrote some of, had to have been Duo/Heero from Gundam Wing. Or, well, Duo/anyone, because I'm sort of not particular about it, though it has grown to be Duo/Wufei or Wufei/anyone-but-Treize. Then there was Harry/Snape (among others. Its sort of hard to stick strictly to one pairing in that fandom, ya know? Too many great stories). I think I spent three or four years bouncing around with both pairings, though Gundam Wing came first, and I still wander back when I feel like I'm missing them.

Hee! So 2 & 3 are so similar for me :)

1. What was your first brush with fandom - Buffy & Angel. I was about 19 - old enough to know better!

2. How did you find fandom (as an internet entity)? After watching a Buffy episode I decided to search for a picture of Seth Green (of all people) on our brand spanking new internet connection. It brought up a link for "fanfiction". I was intrigued at what this new and bizarre word could possibly mean... The rest is history.

3. Was livejournal your first fannish home? If not, how were you involved? Not by a long shot. I had a geocities site and was on many mailing lists. I shunned lj because I didn't like the layout and trying to figure memories and tags gave me a headache. I only got into lj because fandom pretty much lives here now, and I had a job with NOTHING to do all day (ahh, temping) so I learned the way of the journal, and now I am hopelessly, hopelessly, hopelessly hooked.

4. How many fandoms have you been in since your first? If you can, list them. For the longest time I was almost exclusively only interested in Buffy&Angel. Then came Supernatural: the Almighty Usurper and Eater of Souls. I'm also a reader in SGA, Torchwood, the occasional movie and I dabble in other fandoms if a rec catches my eye or I know the author.

5. If you participate in fandom actively (aka, you aren't a lurker), what's your role? Author, occasional beta (although I'm getting back into that after a long hiatus), occasional enabler, stalker, and I always, always try and leave comments because I know how much I enjoy getting them.

6. If you're a slasher, what was your first slash pairing and why? Did you find slash first? I knew slash was out there from pretty much the beginning of discovering fanfic, but I worked my way through unconventional het pairings first before getting caught up in the wonderful world of slash. I like to read het, gen, femslash, whatever, but slash is my main squeeze. I guess I'm just greedy for the boys like that, and, as we all know, It's All About The Cock. The first slash story I remember ever reading was Spike/Angel and I remember thinking, 'Oh my god, can they do this?' I was fascinated. The first slash I wrote was Spike/Xander "just to see if I could" and the majority of the fic I've written ever since has been slash.

1. What was your first brush with fandom - TV, movie, book, anime, etc.? How old were you? Harry Potter. Various Snape fansites. I was 17.

2. How did you find fandom (as an internet entity)? I was bored, had access to a computer and googled "Severus Snape". I got a bazillion hits, some of them leading to pages with fanfiction. The first story I read was a Snape/Fleur romance, the second one was Snape/Hermione smut, and the third one was a Fred/Snape/George threesome extravaganza.

3. Was livejournal your first fannish home? If not, how were you involved? I was a member of Hpana, a soul-less Harry Potter forum where I discussed the relative hotness of Snape and Alan Rickman with a bunch of equally damaged fangirls. I also had a FF.net account, but all I posted there was a piece of A Goofy Movie fanfiction.

4. How many fandoms have you been in since your first? If you can, list them. Harry Potter ->Due South and Smallville ->House ->Jeeves and Wooster and Hugh Laurie/Stephen Fry RPS -> SGA

5. If you participate in fandom actively (aka, you aren't a lurker), what's your role? Author, artist, beta, commenter, enabler, etc.
I'm a commenter (man oh man, do I comment), sometimes-enabler, and infrequent author.

6. If you're a slasher, what was your first slash pairing and why? Did you find slash first? Hmm, I read slash in the HP fandom, but I didn't really have an OTP. I seem to remember that a lot of it were Harry/Lupin. It wasn't until I found DS, and [livejournal.com profile] cesperanza fics, that I became a slasher. Eight Sessions changed the way I read fics. After that, I couldn't go back to trawling FF.net or AFF.net anymore.

1. What was your first brush with fandom - TV, movie, book, anime, etc.? How old were you?
I was about twelve or thirteen years old, in an all girls Catholic convent school, in an IT lesson. I typed in Mulder/Krycek because I thought I'd get information about Mulder or Krycek.

Blimey.

I've been a completely irredeemable slasher ever since.

2. How did you find fandom (as an internet entity)?
See above. I found the MKRA (Mulder/Krycek Romantics Association) and was instantly hooked; and naive enough to think for a while that it was unique, that this was the only evidence of fandom available. Then I learned to use search engines a little better. *grins*

3. Was livejournal your first fannish home? If not, how were you involved?
I got into livejournal through the SSFQF - the Severus Snape Fuh-Q-Fest. Before that I was on a few yahoo mailing lists - one for the X-Files, one for Due South and the SSFQF group. I also had a few stories up on RatB, the M/K archive, but I'm not going to admit to the name I wrote under. Pretty sure they're still there. :D

4. How many fandoms have you been in since your first? If you can, list them.
Um... I've read in a lot of fandoms, but I think my main ones have been X-Files, Due South, Harry Potter, Sports Night, [livejournal.com profile] milliways_bar, Good Omens and Stargate: Atlantis.

5. If you participate in fandom actively (aka, you aren't a lurker), what's your role? Author, artist, beta, commenter, enabler, etc.
I write (a very little and badly), beta (for spelling and grammar, mostly) and flail in comments. Oh and I pimp, of course - I pimp mercilessly.

6. If you're a slasher, what was your first slash pairing and why? Did you find slash first?
Again, see above. Man, I still remember the shockwave in fandom when Krycek kissed Mulder on the cheek...

Heee, what a fun idea! Dude, HARRY/HERMIONE. The ship of my heart! Well, not really, but I am still terribly fond. Also, Interview with a Vampire is one of the gayest movies evarrrrr. And sexiest, num num. NOTHING IS WRONG WITH ME SHUT UP ^_^

My turn!

1. What was your first brush with fandom - TV, movie, book, anime, etc.? How old were you? Hmmm. It's a little foggy, because my drift into fandom was all tangled up with my participation in various online gaming sites where I was one of the only girls and had a blast. But I'm pretty sure my first real fandom (in that I had involvement beyond just watching on TV) was X-Files. That was the summer after my sophomore year in high school, I believe, so I was about 15. I read tons and tons of Mulder/Scully fic on the Gossamer web archive, sigh. I still love them unreasonable amounts.

WAIT! Rewind! I'm totally lying. My first fannish experience was being a member of a Neopets guild (omg STOP LAUGHING) devoted to the Dragonriders of Pern book series by Anne McCaffrey! We roleplayed dragon riders and their dragons, and had hatchings and firelizards and all kinds of soap opera-y relationship dramas! It was GREAT. I still miss Logan, sigh.

2. How did you find fandom (as an internet entity)? The Neopets thing doesn't really count, because it wasn't connected with fandom at large and it wasn't really fanfic. I think Gossamer was really it. I don't remember how I found it though.

3. Was livejournal your first fannish home? If not, how were you involved? Neopets was really my home for a few years. I loved that place. I still miss Logan, sigh. I think before I found LJ I just kind of bummed around in the fannish community, clicking and reading and drooling but not really flailing WITH anyone, sadly. This is evidenced by my first LJ post ever being a bunch of links to fannish type sites for HP, Buffy, and Lost. Which I totally didn't realize. So apparently LJ came kind of late in my fangirl game! (Jan 2005, for the record)

4. How many fandoms have you been in since your first? If you can, list them. Oh god. A lot? This is only going to be vaguely chronological. The X-Files, Buffy, Lost, Harry Potter (Harry/Hermione and Remus/Sirius, baby), Queer as Folk, Ewan McGregor, Star Wars (Ani/Obi and Ewan/Hayden RPS), Firefly, Veronica Mars, Boondock Saints, Angel, Supernatural (including RPS, obvs!), Battlestar Galactica, Stargate Atlantis, Heroes, Friday Night Lights, Torchwood, Ocean's 11, aaaand BANDOM! \o/

5. If you participate in fandom actively (aka, you aren't a lurker), what's your role? Author, artist, beta, commenter, enabler, etc. Well, I comment extensively, and I am a very very good enabler, as you yourself can attest! I am told that my enthusiasm is contagious :) I have betaed in the past, and I make icons from time to time, and I also write once in a blue moon. Mostly I enthuse, though :D

6. If you're a slasher, what was your first slash pairing and why? Did you find slash first? Remus/Sirius. 100%, all the way. I was already in love with them when I started my LJ, as my earliest entries prove! I was reading Shoebox and pretty much flat on my face with adoration. They're still one of my favorite couples of all time. Slash wasn't first though, no. As I said, Mulder/Scully had my heart for a good long while :)

Well, that was an interesting walk down memory lane! Sorry to have rambled so much, darlink.

Omg, I had a Sailor Moon guild at Neopets! I'd almost forgotten till I read this reply. Those were the... er, days.

1. What was your first brush with fandom - TV, movie, book, anime, etc.? How old were you?
I was mostly into music fandoms (Blur/Oasis) as a teenager and started my online fangirling in various Oasis forums. Because while I liked alot of tv shows I never got more involved than just watch them religiously. The first tv fandom I got very involved in was Buffy when I was 18.

2. How did you find fandom (as an internet entity)?
Me and a friend first stumbled upon it while looking for spoilers. I didn't get really obsessed until I was googling of Spike and Angel and got a few Spangel pictures thrown in the mix and was very intrigued by what I saw. And the rest, as they say, is history.

3. Was livejournal your first fannish home? If not, how were you involved?
Livejournal was my first home (apart from Oasis forums that is).

4. How many fandoms have you been in since your first? If you can, list them.
Ummm... if I count from Buffy/Angel I've dabbled to various degrees in: Jeeves & Wooster (Jooster), Smallville (Clex), Harry Potter (Harry/Draco), LotRips (VigOrli), Firefly, Veronica Mars (Veronica/Logan), Supernatural/RPS, House (House/Wilson), Torchwood (Janto) and Stargate Atlantis (McShep). I'm probably forgetting something.

5. If you participate in fandom actively (aka, you aren't a lurker), what's your role? Author, artist, beta, commenter, enabler, etc.
I'm mostly a commenter and enabler but from time to time I write silly little things.

6. If you're a slasher, what was your first slash pairing and why? Did you find slash first?
My very first slash pairing was actually Tom Paris/Harry Kim from Star Trek: Voyager but then I didn't know what slash was not did I seek it out in any way. I mostly liked to think of them as a couple while watching the show.

The first slash pairing I got really involved with was Spangel, I was just really intrigued by their interaction and by the possibilities of their past together. Plus they look good together!
And yeah, the first piece of fanfic I read was slash, didn't really read much else the first couple of years.

1. What was your first brush with fandom - TV, movie, book, anime, etc.? How old were you? Ha. I was NINE. I was given one of the Redwall books - the ones with the anthropomorphic animals fighting wars, with vaguely racist undertones - and thought it was the best thing ever. I devoured them all. Then I discovered Tamora Pierce, which is slightly more respectable, and Harry Potter.

2. How did you find fandom (as an internet entity)? About the third Redwall book I got said on the inside cover something like 'Visit the author's thoroughly marvelous website!' OOH, I said, with glazed eyes. WEBSITE. And on his website, the guy even listed his favourite fansites. Some of which contained the mythical beast known as fanfiction. Tamora Pierce's website also figures in here somewhere, but to a crazed by-now-probably-ten-year-old it wasn't quite so exciting.

3. Was livejournal your first fannish home? If not, how were you involved? Fanfiction.net! Oh dear. Even then, I felt that there was something missing from much of what I was reading. (Here is where a joke is made about ffn's lack of grammar, punctuation, etc.) I'm pretty sure I wrote fanfic? Redwall, Tamora Pierce, The Dark Is Rising - things like that. Then I hung out at theonering.com, until in a blinding flash I realised that I wasn't really that into Lord of the Rings and had no real business hanging out with people who really, really were. I stumbled across slash on ffn, spent a while being utterly baffled and then increasingly intrigued, and then went looking for more. It didn't bother me what fandom - I read my way through the entire Speranza and Resonant Due South back catalogue before I ever watched an entire episode of the actual show.

4. How many fandoms have you been in since your first? I feel like this list is going to be a bit arbitrary, because I'm not particularly in fandom, but anyway, in approximate order: Redwall *cries*, Tamora Pierce, The Dark is Rising, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Buffy, Angel, Due South, Good Omens, Queer As Folk (UK version!), Sherlock Holmes, Green Wing, Firefly, Veronica Mars, Supernatural, CW RPS, Life on Mars, Heroes,The Mighty Boosh, Stargate Atlantis, Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain RPS. (which one of these is not like the others, hmm?)

5. If you participate in fandom actively (aka, you aren't a lurker), what's your role? Author, artist, beta, commenter, enabler, etc. Mostly? I lurk. I guilt myself over never leaving feedback. Oh, once or twice [livejournal.com profile] immoralilly asked my opinion on something she was writing! Sometimes I talk about things that happen on TV shows! Occasionally I write fanfic in tiny tiny fandoms, waving the flag particularly for ukulele players who are in love. Ukulele players should be free to love anyone they choose! Including other ukulele players!

6. If you're a slasher, what was your first slash pairing and why? Did you find slash first? My first slash pairing was Will/Bran, from The Dark is Rising, which I read on fanfiction.net because it had the intriguing summary of "Will falls in love with someone - and it's not Jane [the only female character in the book remotely his age]!" The subtext of this went completely over my head. I was actually surprised. The first slash pairing where I said to myself, "Ohhh, I get it now!" was probably something in Buffy or Angel - Spike/Xander? Wes/Gunn? Something like that.

WILL/BRAN! *friends you IMMEDIATELY* I think that was my first slash pairing - oh, no, wait, it was Caspian/Edmund. Also, Redwall! Tamora Pierce!

1. What was your first brush with fandom - TV, movie, book, anime, etc.? How old were you? I didn't have a computer until I was 14. Then I didn't have the internet until I was 15. So my first real fandom experience was I think the day after the net was installed and it was Good News Week (a now cancelled Australian comedy show) and the Doug Anthony Allstars (a now defuncted Australian comedy trio that one member was the future host of GNW). That was 12 years ago.

2. How did you find fandom (as an internet entity)? How did I find it online? Or what did I think of it? I found it from this IRC chatroom for GNW/DAAS. Practically everyone there was a member or a mod. And I thought it was cool :D

3. Was livejournal your first fannish home? If not, how were you involved? The GNW/DAAS fandom used to be on this messageboard service at www dot beyondtheweb dot com and now I feel super old. BTW died sadly and I never really liked the new messageboard service it switched to so mostly I lurked towards the end of it.

4. How many fandoms have you been in since your first? If you can, list them. 1996-2001 Paul/Tim or Paul/Rich, GNW/DAAS (active, mostly), 1996-2001 H/D, Harry Potter (lurk-mode), 2001-2007 H/D, Harry Potter (active), 1999-2001 S/X, Buffy (lurk-mode), 1999-Ongoing J/D, SG1 (lurk-mode), 2004-2007 J/R, SGA (lurk-mode), Dec 2007-Ongoing J/R, SGA (active) ... 1981-Ongoing, random shiny things, peoples and places that catch my eye for a few weeks or so

5. If you participate in fandom actively (aka, you aren't a lurker), what's your role? Author, artist, beta, commenter, enabler, etc. I'll say predominiently 'Author', to keep it simple. Let's just say even back in 1996 I was putting words together and calling them fic. They were not. I think back and cringe but I like to believe I've gotten better. Everyone has to start somewhere right?

6. If you're a slasher, what was your first slash pairing and why? Did you find slash first? Paul/Tim (DAAS), Paul/Richard (DAAS). And yeah, found slash first (almost unavoidable for a comedy trio of three guys ... but not impossible). Never really been into het. I've read het and femmeslash but eh, I guess it's just not my thing. Femmeslash has no penises and het is apparently only interesting to me when I'm participating IRL. (Except soulless-Spike/Buffy ... I used to be a fan on that in fic)

Uses her annoying icon to make you not point and laugh at her clearly easily-obsessed mind

Edited because I forgot to list my pairings.

1. What was your first brush with fandom - TV, movie, book, anime, etc.? How old were you? OH GOD, it was totally The Powerpuff Girls. When I was, like, 11. *facepalm*

2. How did you find fandom (as an internet entity)? ...Thaaaat wasn't til a little later, when I was looking for...I don't even know anymore, something to do with Harry Potter. Google led me to [livejournal.com profile] hp_icons. At that point I went, "Livejournal??? What is this thing????", and decided to do some poking around. AND THE REST IS HISTORY.

3. Was livejournal your first fannish home? If not, how were you involved? Yep! I had a Xanga before this (it's still up, because I can't bring myself to delete it, but it will NEVER BE REVEALED to ANYONE.), but that was mainly just for 'conversations' between my friends and I.

4. How many fandoms have you been in since your first? If you can, list them. UHH. Okay, so, Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean, Franz Ferdinand, LotR RPS, Good Omens, Lost, Supernatural, House, Stargate: Atlantis, Firefly, bandom. But I'm probably missing a TON.

5. If you participate in fandom actively (aka, you aren't a lurker), what's your role? Author, artist, beta, commenter, enabler, etc. Mostly commenter/enabler!! Sometimes I do lurk, though; I like to scope out things before I throw myself headfirst into them.

6. If you're a slasher, what was your first slash pairing and why? Did you find slash first? Harry/Draco! I read this fic, I have no idea where, but Harry and Draco got TRANSPORTED THROUGH TIME to the Marauders-era, and they all sat around and read the HP books. AND THEN THEY HOOKED UP. It was glorious.

[identity profile] shadowserenity.livejournal.com 2008-01-15 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
1. What was your first brush with fandom - TV, movie, book, anime, etc.? How old were you? I'll own up to Sailor Moon as my first fandom, too. I hung out at fanfiction.net and moonromance, I downloaded the pretty pictures (some of that stuff is still so lovely today) and the soundtracks, and wrote my own SM fic. Oh, God. I think I was around eleven, too, so I'm blaming my pre-teen self!

2. How did you find fandom (as an internet entity)? I searched around for SM stuff and stumbled across fanfiction.net. I remember I connected with a few people and got involved with IM software, but I have no idea how I met those people (maybe by leaving reviews on their fic?).

3. Was livejournal your first fannish home? If not, how were you involved? Well, with the exception of my horrible stories on fanfiction.net, my first fannish home was TheForce.Net's Jedi Council Forums. It was before Attack of the Clones, so we were all excited (and subsequently disappointed). I wrote Padme/Anakin fic and eventually moved onto the New Jedi Order books. During that, I become an moderator for the fan fiction forums and a reviewer for the fanfiction archive. I left when I got into lj and BSG and SGA.

4. How many fandoms have you been in since your first? If you can, list them. I'm only going to count the fandoms I was actually involved in, not just read fic - Sailor Moon, Star Wars, Stargate SG-1, Battlestar Galactica, Stargate Atlantis.

5. If you participate in fandom actively (aka, you aren't a lurker), what's your role? Author, artist, beta, commenter, enabler, etc. Artist/iconmaker. Mostly my fandom activity is limited to LIMS mod and fic commenter.

6. If you're a slasher, what was your first slash pairing and why? Did you find slash first? Actually, my first slash pairing was McKay/Sheppard. I initially wanted to get into Sheppard/Weir since it was the big het pairing of the show, but I found the fic too boring. It convinced me that I wasn't right for the Atlantis fandom, so I held off jumping right in (which is why I wasn't in fandom during season one). Then I eventually discovered McKay/Sheppard and thought, hey, this really, really works. I've always had the mindset of gender as gender and it's not the be all and end all, so I certainly wasn't adverse to a slash pairing. In short, McKay/Sheppard got me into SGA.

1. What was your first brush with fandom - TV, movie, book, anime, etc.? How old were you? When I was wee (say 8 or 9), I was obsessed with the original Star Wars for a year or so. And then... and then there was... Titanic. I was 11.

2. How did you find fandom (as an internet entity)? I went online and found fan fiction and went a little insane. I remember browsing the Kate and Leo Cafe and posting my really crap Mary Sue stories (and one about Cal!) to various archives.

3. Was livejournal your first fannish home? If not, how were you involved? No, I wandered around sites before I found egroups, but then I was in a different fandom and we had our own message board. :-? But I was on egroups and then yahoogroups.

4. How many fandoms have you been in since your first? If you can, list them. Oh jeeze. We will count fandoms I read quite a few fics in. Okay. *breathes* 9? 10? But some of those are minor and I've been online (fan fic wise) for 9 years.

5. If you participate in fandom actively (aka, you aren't a lurker), what's your role? Author, artist, beta, commenter, enabler, etc. I'm usually an author and beta, and then in my little circle an enabler. I've been a complete unknown and a BNF (well, what passes for one in 2001-2003 HP), and happily in the middle. The middle is great because you have enough people on your flist to make it interesting, but not so many you have to complain about douchebags.

6. If you're a slasher, what was your first slash pairing and why? Did you find slash first? Mmm, I'd been kind of aware of slash, knew what it was, when I was very young, and amusedly I remember a post on a yahoogroup that jokingly suggested a NYPD Blue slash pairing. I was like LOL I WILL WRITE IT IF NO ONE KILLS ME! What an obnoxious...... 12 year old, jeeze. Anyway several years later I found some Harry/Draco on ff.net, and I sort of never looked back.

[personal profile] trinity_clare 2008-01-15 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
Finally, I have enough time to fill this out!

1. What was your first brush with fandom - TV, movie, book, anime, etc.? How old were you? Harry Potter, when I was 12. I was fannish about a lot of TV shows (Power Rangers, Digimon, Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura) and books (Redwall, The Dark Is Rising, Narnia, Tamora Pierce) that have internet fandoms, but I didn't know about them.

2. How did you find fandom (as an internet entity)? One of my friends found the Draco Trilogy on ff.net (yes, this was before they booted Cassie Claire), and it devolved from there.

3. Was livejournal your first fannish home? If not, how were you involved? I joined the massive Draco Trilogy/Paradigm of Uncertainty Yahoogroup in 2002, and then eventually I joined FictionAlley. I got an LJ in 2004 pretty much specifically so I could follow [livejournal.com profile] shoebox_project.

4. How many fandoms have you been in since your first? If you can, list them. My definition of "in fandom" is pretty shaky. I am by no means monogamous, and there's no such thing as a canon that I love but am not fannish about. If I know enough of a canon to be able to talk about it and read fic, I'm pretty much in. If I can find other people to be fannish with, then we have ourselves a fandom. My del.icio.us account has fics saved from 38 different fandoms, so take that for what it is. I've only really been active online in HP, SPN, and SGA, though.

5. If you participate in fandom actively (aka, you aren't a lurker), what's your role? Author, artist, beta, commenter, enabler, etc. Hmm. I don't really count as an author, seeing as I never post fic (I have an SGA fic right now that I will finish if it kills me), and I almost never beta for people anymore because I can't conjure up free time when I need it. So pretty much commenter and enabler. The enabling has gotten louder as I've gotten more comfortable keysmashing at people to write stuff. :D

6. If you're a slasher, what was your first slash pairing and why? Did you find slash first? I am not a slasher (though I read slash). The first stories I read either had het pairings with slash subtext or token gay characters. I am a firm believer in the gen OTP (pretty much BFF 4EVA) and had pairings that pinged me hard in that category before I knew what that meant. Luckily for me, this includes almost every slashable pairing ever, so I'm a pretty happy camper. Early het OTPs include Will/Lyra from HDM, TK/Kari from Digimon, Bran/Jane from The Dark Is Rising, Martin/Rose from Redwall, Neal/Keladry from Tamora Pierce, Draco/Ginny and Sirius/Lily from HP, and more currently Max/Alec from Dark Angel. (All of this is, remember, in addition to textual or subtextual slash pairings.)

1. What was your first brush with fandom - TV, movie, book, anime, etc.? How old were you? The Jackson Five. (Yeah I'm old) It was the 70s. I was 6. Collected the music, watched the cartoon, had some posters.

2. How did you find fandom (as an internet entity)? In 2002, someone sent me The Very Secret Diaries by Cassandra Claire. I went looking for more and I fell down the rabbit hole into Lord of the Rings fandom, and later LOTRPS.

3. Was livejournal your first fannish home? If not, how were you involved? I read archived stuff and LJ stuff and was a lurker until the end of 2006.

4. How many fandoms have you been in since your first? If you can, list them. I'm defining fandom as being part of some kind of community that adores a thing, with or without the internet involved, so Jackson Five, Shaun Cassidy (yep, old), Star Wars, Beatles, Duran Duran, Rocky Horror Picture Show (cast and crew for several years), Xanth, Discworld, Lord of the Rings, LOTRPS, SGA, Sandman, Torchwood, Dr. Who

5. If you participate in fandom actively (aka, you aren't a lurker), what's your role? Author, artist, beta, commenter, enabler, etc. Lately, lots of writing, but it used to be art too, and during Rocky Horror, costume making.

6. If you're a slasher, what was your first slash pairing and why? Did you find slash first? I was slashing Burt and Ernie from the cradle. Seriously--I thought they lived together and loved each other the same as Gordon and Susan and Mommy and Daddy.

The first slash pairing I wrote was Dom/Viggo. Now I write a lot of McShep with bonus other SGA characters thrown in from time to time and am working on an epic Torchwood for [livejournal.com profile] tardis_bigbang.

1. What was your first brush with fandom - TV, movie, book, anime, etc.? How old were you?
Umm, I was, like, twelve. Abouts. My first fandom was Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Cause Buffy's a perfect rolemodel for a girl of 12. Yeah.

2. How did you find fandom (as an internet entity)?
I remember it clear as day. I was searching for pictures of Seth Green. Because I like funny, laconic, short men. Umm. And I found a fanfiction piece that paired Mr. Green with the guys from Blink-182. I was also into Blink-182 at the time in a very big way. So I read it. MINE EYES. Not exactly the first thing I had in mind when surfing the internet. But, umm, it was an experience.

3. Was livejournal your first fannish home? If not, how were you involved?
Fanfiction.net and lots of Yahoo!groups. I'm so glad though for finding LJ because, oh my god, teh lovely people, lots of them!

4. How many fandoms have you been in since your first? If you can, list them.
Hmm, let's see. Not really in any particular order. Buffy The Vampire Slayer/Angel, House M.D., Supernatural, football RPS, swimming RPS, ice hockey RPS, Band Of Brothers, Fight Club, Lord Of The Rings, The Faculty, Queer As Folk, Smallville, X-Files, various RPS, Everwood, X-Men, Pirates Of The Caribbean, O.C., Doctor Who, Torchwood, Entourage, Grey's Anatomy, Stargate Atlantis, OZ, Stargate SG-1, Without A Trace. Hmm, that MIGHT cover it.

5. If you participate in fandom actively (aka, you aren't a lurker), what's your role? Author, artist, beta, commenter, enabler, etc.
I write fic, mostly. Sometimes make a graphic or two, or icons. But I'm more of a- a- a lurker, yeah.

6. If you're a slasher, what was your first slash pairing and why? Did you find slash first?
Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Oz/anyone. Because I can't remember what or who or why but Oz was the man. I didn't start with slash so much as I stumbled into it. I was all "OZ+WILLOW 4-EVA!" until the whole incident with the fic with them Blink boys and then that sort of started it all and now I'm hardcore. Umm. Yeah.

1. What was your first brush with fandom - TV, movie, book, anime, etc.? How old were you?

I got into Gargoyles really hardcore for a little bit. I mean, I had self-insert stories, lol. I was... Fifteen, maybe? I had always thought fannishly of shows, but never done anything until then since we didn't have a computer at home. My first diehard fandom was Yu-Gi-Oh!, though. *points to self* Bakura Fangirl Alert. ;D

2. How did you find fandom (as an internet entity)?

I've always loved writing/reading, so when I heard of this 'fanfiction' thing online from others, I decided to check it out. Found FF.Net-- back in them olden days of NC-17-- and the rest is history. :D

3. Was livejournal your first fannish home? If not, how were you involved?

Not really, no. I got into LJ kind of late because I was originally on Blurty. For me it was mostly FF.Net, MediaMiner.Org, etc. I had a fan site for Lance Alvers and Pietro Maximoff from X-Men: Evolution. Actually, I think it still exists... *digs around* AH-HA! It does still work! (http://www.geocities.com/hbkholic/evo.html)

4. How many fandoms have you been in since your first? If you can, list them.

Oh, man... List them all?! Okay, here we go!

Stargate Atlantis, Harry Potter, Supernatural, Yu-Gi-Oh!, ANGEL, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Stargate SG-1, Beetlejuice, X-Men: Evolution, NCIS, House, Queer As Folk (US), Law & Order, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Law & Order: SVU, NUMB3RS, Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Breakfast Club, Naruto, Shaman King, Highlander, Sonic the Hedgehog, Criminal Minds, WWE, The Dead Zone, Rescue Me, The Crow, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Doctor Who, Torchwood, Dexter, etc.

5. If you participate in fandom actively (aka, you aren't a lurker), what's your role? Author, artist, beta, commenter, enabler, etc.

I do lurk a lot, but I write fic now and then and like to give ideas. =)

6. If you're a slasher, what was your first slash pairing and why? Did you find slash first?

First hardcore slash pairing probably was Ryou/Yami Bakura from Yu-Gi-Oh!. Man, that show was a crack paradise for slashers. (And then came Naruto, lol.)

1. What was your first brush with fandom - TV, movie, book, anime, etc.? How old were you?
Sailor Moon but it didn't really kick start until The X-Files and I was ten.

2. How did you find fandom (as an internet entity)?

I was looking for anything on The X-Files and stumbled across fanfiction. I still remember the first one I've ever read and I can't find it again.

3. Was livejournal your first fannish home? If not, how were you involved?

My first home was EzBoards where I was posting Tyr/Beka fanfic and then later moved to FF.Net.

4. How many fandoms have you been in since your first? If you can, list them.

Sailor Moon, X-Files, Ocean Girl, Spellbinder, Proflier, Pretender, Forever Knight, BTVS, X-Men, Mutant X, Level 9, Doctor Who, Torchwood, Hex, Numb3rs, Prison Break, Supernatural, La Femme Nikita, Blood +, Witch Hunter Robin, Inuyasha, Firefly, ect...Now I'm just wasting space.

5. If you participate in fandom actively (aka, you aren't a lurker), what's your role? Author, artist, beta, commenter, enabler, etc.

Sometimes I am a writer and others a commenter and if I think they really should do it then I'm an enabler.

6. If you're a slasher, what was your first slash pairing and why? Did you find slash first?

hoo, boy...My first slash was Don/Charlie from Numb3rs and then SPN and so on.
