I'm determined that Helluary this year will not actually be Hell. Last year was a fluke! A really horrible, rotten, no good, sob-inducing fluke! So, as a kind of talisman against further fluke-age, I am going to pack as much awesome into this post as I possibly can. Are you ready? Okay!

Given a Choice, It Would Always Be Sunday, by
godofwine (McKay/Sheppard, R)
I was completely knocked out of my chair by this. The style is unique and amazing and I could never in two lifetimes pull it off; the whole thing is just one big wow after another. Absolutely captivating.

fiercelydreamed (McKay/Sheppard, NC-17)
Fang;oagJAG;oaggjAPGWgija;giawogjag, holy fucking god. This is so smolderingly hot and visceral and, nghfj. If you don't finish it squirming, you should probably check to see if you have a pulse.
Taking the Long Way Home, by
sardonicsmiley (McKay/Sheppard, R)
God, what a ride. An uncommon trope - for good reason I think - that is so, so deftly handled here that you really feel the depth in every character, Rodney especially.
Second Star to the Right, by
icantfollow (McKay/Sheppard, PG-13) [AU]
I'm not sure if I've recommended this before, but if I have, you'll deal because it's awesome. A Peter Pan AU, guys. One that's sharp and a little hurty with a hopeful, beautiful twist at the end that makes it all worth it.

- I'm sure I'm not the first to imagine Rodney wearing this t-shirt, because come on. That would be pure comedy - especially if John bought it for him. [from here]
- Even thought this game had me about to pull my hair out for a few minutes there, it's still wonderfully entertaining. Also the little cartoon people at the end SING. It's adorable.
- In that same vein is this little game, which is somehow even more frustrating and entertaining!
- If you've somehow managed to escape my recent drive-by comment reccing: Christopher Moore is my new favorite author. Have you heard of Terry Pratchett? Christopher Moore is kind of like Terry on speed, it is so beautiful. With hits like Island of the Sequined Love Nun, You Suck: A Love Story, The Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove, and The Stupidest Angel: A Heartwarming Tale of Christmas Terror, how can you go wrong?
- I have no idea who this artist is, but watching the video is mesmerizing and also, er, strangely soothing.

14valentines is up and running! Go on over, read the beautiful essay, and then the equally awesome fic.
- It's been pretty well broadcasted, but just in case you've never heard: Free Rice is a vocabulary game. Every time you answer a question correctly, rice is donated through the UN.
-
svmadelyn is hosting the Fifth Annual Valentine's Day Game, where you can send anonymous luvin' to your favorite people. Likewise,
villainny is hosting a Valentine's Message Post, where you can leave comments to be revealed on V-day. Yay!

Iron and Wine - Free Until They Cut Me Down The Beatles - All Together Now Sara Bareilles - Love Song |
Phoenix - Consolation Prizes Weezer - Undone (The Sweater Song) A+++ would unravel again. Jimi Hendrix - Voodoo Child Cat Power - Werewolf The Clash - Rudie Can't Fail You think youre pretty hot / In your pork pie hat / But...Rudie can't fail / Look out, look out Ahahahaaaa. So ironic! I probably shouldn't laugh. Woops. |
