oh, saturday

  1. Waking up ten minutes before you have to make your train and then realizing in distress that your shoes are not where you left them? Priceless. While I was in Brooklyn, though, I passed this place that was a Bakery & Jerk Center. And, uh. What. Please tell me what a Jerk Center is, because my mind has firmly rooted itself in the bad place. Where the concept of Jerked Chicken is highly disturbing and also illegal.

  2. Hallo, hallo, I seem to have acquired some new friends. How are you guys? :D

Jerk chicken is bomb diggy, it's spicy Jamaican chicken. BOMB DIGGY! Go eat some, immediately!

But why do they call it that? I am baffled!

[identity profile] dumdeedum.livejournal.com 2008-02-02 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
It's probably a Jamaican word, they refer to it as a style of cooking using the jerk spices so I doubt it has anything to do with the English slang use of the word. Might be interesting to know it's origin in the language though.

But seriously, BOMB DIGGY, especially with Sangria :P

Rodney McKay has one of those on him at all times. You never know when you might need it!

It is a handy weapon that you can eat pudding and pie with!

Oh man, jerk chicken is some serious good food. I tend to make my own seasoning, since the store bought stuff is way too hot for me. And I like spicy food! Just not...painfully spicy.

According to wikipedia (which knows all) the term jerk comes from the spanish word "charqui" which means "dried meat".

And Rodney would LOVE a titanium spork. John would get sulky over it, because he wants one, too.

So it's like beefy jerky in spicy chicken form? That's pretty awesome.

Ahaha, John's huge, sorrowful eyes when Rodney takes it out of his pack - so precious!

John would sigh very loudly and pointedly until Rodney let him use it.

And apparently in the olden days the chicken was dried to preserve it. But it's not like that now, just grilled. And yummy.

Probably with copious use of the patented Sheppard Chin Wobble.

Hee! Fabulous pic! John does sulky so well. He knows how to work it, totally.
