a list

Things wot I have learned today:

  1. I am still so emotionally invested in Sam and Dean, even though I like to pretend I'm not. I haven't been able to change the songs on my iPod since I got my new computer, since it's the only copy I have of all the old stuff that was on Elphaba before she kicked it, and so I still have tons of the music I listened to religiously that meant Sam&Dean to me. While writing in the Library today, I had it on shuffle and Brothers On a Hotel Bed came on, and I started sniffling. I really hope the finale tears my heart out in a good way - the kind of way that IMToD did - and not in an "oh, Eric Kripke, how do you get funding" way. I'm insanely worried.

  2. [livejournal.com profile] schneestern thinks I should make out with [livejournal.com profile] kashmir1 at Shore Leave.

  3. Rereading an author's entire body of work is very satisfying. The past three days have seen me going through [livejournal.com profile] thegrrrl2002's website, and can I just say that if you're new around here and haven't stumbled upon it yet, her and [livejournal.com profile] yin_again wrote wristband porn. I always forget, and then it hits me over the head like a very, very attractive plank of wood.

  4. Hot, humid weather makes me want to listen to the Juno Soundtrack. It's so...sunshine-y. If that's a word. Which it isn't, but whatever. Here it is for you, in case you haven't yet experienced its awesome.

  5. August Rush is an incredibly awesome movie; you should all see it if you can. Robin Williams was fabulous, mostly because I would never, ever expect that kind of role from him, and Kerri Russel keeps amazing me lately with how absolutely beautiful she's become. Not that she wasn't pretty before, but when you see her on the screen with her cello in August Rush, it's just - wow. Stunning. The entire main cast stunned me, actually. Freddie Highmore is so young to be playing such a big part, but he pulled it off and left me madly in love with August.

I DENY THIS! LIES ALL LIES! I NEVER SAID THAT!

Also, I HEART the Juno soundtrack and omg I cried SO HARD at the ending of August Rush and I NEVER cry at movies. I blame the music. That movie has a FANTASTIC soundtrack too. Although I have to shuffle that last song away every time it comes up in public or I start crying again.

ALSO I NEVER SAID THAT THING ABOUT JULIE LA LA LA LIES LIES LIES!

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2008-05-15 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
schneesternlj (4:35:07 PM): but you know. if julie wants to make out with you? you should go for it! YOU SHOULD HAVE FUN! srsly.
aneros2065 (4:35:17 PM): hahaha. I AM GOING TO TELL HER YOU SAID THAT.

THE TIME STAMP NEVER LIES.

Oh man, do you have the soundtrack on your computer? Could I entice you to upload it for me with drabblets or kisses or something?

I saw "August Rush" a couple of weeks back and it stunned me. It's such a beautiful fairytale about how music brings people together, literally. And I love Freddie Highmore--he already owned Finding Neverland and he keeps on owning films. And I love "August's Rhapsody".

THANK YOU! I somehow had never read this before now. SO HOT!

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2008-05-15 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, he was lovely in Finding Neverland. He has such a career ahead of him. Or, at least I hope he does. I'd love to see him in a bunch of other things.

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2008-05-15 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh god yes. I reread it this morning and nearly keeled over where I sat.

[identity profile] thegrrrl2002.livejournal.com 2008-05-15 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG, I live in fear of some reading too many of my fics in a row and seeing all my overused tropes and thinking "jeeze, grrrl needs to get over her thing with Rodney's skin and John's wrists and the armpits and the word 'nuzzle' and does Rodney really need to say the word 'really' 20 times per fic?"

But uh, thank you. ::blushes:: And writing that wristband porn with yin was a whole heck of a lot of fun. She totally rocks.

Me too. There are two child-actors that I love on screen, one is Freddie Highmore and the oher one is Abigail Breslin.

I was possibly more excited to hear Freddie was the voice of Pan in The Golden Compass than I was about the rest of the casting :-)

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2008-05-15 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I dunno, it sort of reads more like a characterization choice, to me. I like it. It's so constant and solid that it makes them seem more real. :">

[identity profile] unamaga.livejournal.com 2008-05-15 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Abigail is also made of the win, you are so right!

I still have yet to see that movie. I heard such mixed things about it. :\

[identity profile] legoline.livejournal.com 2008-05-15 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I want to see them together in a movie so badly. Abigail blew me away completely on NCIS and Little Miss Sunshine and that film with Catherine Zeta-Jones and Aaron Eckhart...

I thought it was okay. The visuals were stunning but I'm not sure how well it works as a complete thing, you know? Felt a bit like the first Harry Potter movie which had cool individual scenes that didn't quite add up to a "whole".

::pokes head in::

Actually, I have to say that I agree with [livejournal.com profile] unamaga. When I find new authors that I particularly like, I typically mainline all of their work in a pretty short span of time, and with writers that have a tendency to use specific tropes (note: not overuse), it does really feel more like a general characterization, like those fics sort of exist in an AU universe of their own. I actually remember feeling that way when I read through all of your fic, oh so long ago. You definitely didn't fit in the "overuse" category (otherwise known as, "Pick a new plot, please *God*. Or just put the thesaurus down and back away from the computer.") Mind you, I also like authors that constantly mix things up, it really just depends what I'm in the mood for.

Besides, how on Earth *could* anyone get over Rodney's skin and John's wrists? Be serious now. :)

GAH, I am so worried about the SPN finale. :(

[identity profile] thegrrrl2002.livejournal.com 2008-05-16 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
Aw, that's so sweet of you! I do admit that I have a very set version of John and Rodney in my head at this point. *g* I'm glad it works for you.

[identity profile] thegrrrl2002.livejournal.com 2008-05-16 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you--that does make me feel better! I've gotten kind of set in my ways with John and Rodney at this point, and I worry that I'm being awfully repetitive. But...I just have so much fun with them! With Rodney's pretty creamy white skin! And John's dainty wrists! They're so irresistible!!

*g*
