I think it's really a measure of my familial life that conversations like this actually happen to me.

MOM: And then I found out that you killed me!
MEL: Am I never going to live that down?
MOM: No. Because you killed me!
MEL: I thought we were past this! I thought we were friends!
MOM: Murderer.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure you don't even want to ask.

In other news! While Stumbling across the internets, I came across this wikipedia entry which made me giggle loudly and flail my arms about like a lunatic.

Mamihlapinatapai (sometimes spelled mamihlapinatapei) is a word from the Yaghan language of Tierra del Fuego, listed in The Guinness Book of World Records as the "most succinct word", and is considered one of the hardest words to translate. It describes a look shared by two people with each wishing that the other will initiate something that both desire but which neither one wants to start.

Ahaaaaahahahah!! :D

  • And So It Is by [livejournal.com profile] schneestern (McKay/Sheppard, R)
They fall into it easily enough. Kisses and caresses and little touches like it's always been a part of who they are.
Hi, so this pretty much made me cry. It's so sweetly, delicately beautiful, and the last line packs such a punch that I actually made sounds and had to pause before hitting 'comment' to kermit flail my arms around wildly.

Rodney is very protective of John’s mind. He kind of wants it to stick around for a bit, preferably attached to John’s body.
This is adorable. I love the affectionate, subtle ode to John's hair. Really, there is no way that his hair should be able to do that all time. I love it so much. <3

John bundles Rodney into the GTO one Friday evening in early June. Rodney's teaching summer session and, two weeks in, is already threatening violence against his 'incompetent' students.
RODNEY. SINGS. LIONEL RICHIE'S GREATEST HITS. IN THE SHOWER. I will never, ever get over that. Oh, yeah, and also this is totally awesome and sweet and I love it to tiny bits and pieces. But Lionel Richie. Come on.

  • An awesome mix by [livejournal.com profile] chickypooh
I'm only just listening to this now, but it's so delightful and cute! V. v. good for when you're feeling happy and gooshy. (As I am right now.)

  • I know this wasn't FOR me - per say - but, dude. Dumbledore's gay is announced on my birthday? Damn right I'm claiming it. Thank you, JK Rowling, you absolute doll! It's just what I've always wanted, it's perfectly right! It's just what I've always wanted, a Christmas delight!

  • MOM: Remember a few years ago when that one - what country was that?
ME: What are you even talking about.
MOM: Anyway, they got that bad storm. Oh, oh, what was it called?
    ME: The storm?
MOM: I keep thinking tiramisu, but that can't be right.
    ME: ...A tsunami?
MOM: No, no. Maybe a honsoom?

  • Shampoo and conditioner that will make it mandatory for me to sing in the shower. No lie. When you have a shampoo that's coconut and lime, you do a little dance and burst into enthusiastic song! You put da lime in da coconut, then you put 'em in your hair. And, yes. I did actually start singing and dancing in the middle of the store. Shame, what?
Thank you to everyone who took the time to wish me a happy birthday or comment on my birthday fic. You all are just...too much. I'm kind of overwhelmed by how awesome my flist is right now. GROUP HUG, YOU GUYS. C'MERE.
