unamaga: (i drove to new york)
Today...is a shitty day. Here are some groovy songs that are making me feel less like knocking myself out with a rolling pin:

The Carpenters - Rainy Days and Mondays
Patrick Wolf - Pigeon Song
The Postal Service - Such Great Heights
Mamas & The Papas - Monday Monday
Led Zeppelin - Immigrant Song
The Kinks - You Really Got Me
Rilo Kiley - Jenny, You're Barely Alive
The Bangles - Manic Monday
Cat Power - Nude As The News
Neko Case - That Teenage Feeling
The Living Things - Bom Bom Bom

I think I found that last one on someone's LJ, but, um, I don't remember who. Whoever you are, thank you! I liked the song! Obviously, haha. But, yeah. Is anybody else out there having a bad day too? Not that I'm wishing a bad day on you or anything, but a little snugglefest might be handy if you're having one, right? Come, share your burden with me and I will try to snuggle your cares away.

PS - I would totally not be averse to anyone who wanted to share music with me, mmhmm.
unamaga: (not carbon)
This just in: Stephen Colbert wins at life. That is so freaking awesome, holy crap.

Today went well; nothing blew up or tried to eat my face, and even though there was a minor incident when I couldn't figure out what building I should be going into and ended up going into ALL of them to find the registration room, I am now the proud owner of a full schedule and a shiny new ID card on which I look like a very cheerful serial killer. \o/ - woooooo! It actually turned out that I was over-prepared. I made the girl who was supposed to be 'advising' me and putting my classes into the system cry because I had the course codes and everything scheduled out before I got to her.

Girl: I'm...I'm so overwhelmed! This is the best thing that's ever happened to me! Thank you! Thank you so, so much! You've restored my faith in humanity!
Mel: Uh. Can I go now?
Girl: HAVE THE BEST DAY EVER, O-M-G!

In honor of this whole shebang being over and done with, some fun musics!

Neko Case - Furnace Room Lullaby
Slight celtic/folk vibe of awesome

John Mayer - Dirty Pop
I think some of you will get a definite kick outta this. Oh, snicker.

Jamiroquai - Just Dance
Because Anne was watching Center Stage before and said zomgreddancenumber which made me squeakle. Loovvee.

Dirty Dancing Soundtrack - Lover Boy
BAAAABBYYYYYYYYY, ohhhh BABBY, you're the one!

Curve - Chinese Burn
Still the best Buffy&Faith scene evar. Rawr!

Wild Cherry - Play That Funky Music White Boy
It had to happen, man. I mean...come on, you had to know it would come up sooner or later.

Tattle Tale - Glass Vase Cello Case
Possibly the best song to come out of But I'm a Cheerleader. Mmm.

Rufus Wainwright - Instant Pleasure
I think everyone can relate to this song in a very deep, meaningful way. Just give me sex wheeeenever I want ittt!

So. It's late August, coming on September and thusly fall. How're you all doing? What are you gonna be for HALLOWEEN? I'm thinking of trying for something edgy this year, since I was a zombie last time. Do you think I could pull off Corn on the Cob and get people to bite me?

pssst, [livejournal.com profile] purple_sax09: there's a mystical creatures exhibit at the museum of natural history! dragons! unicorns! DINOSAUR IMAX FILM FOR ONE DOLLAR! it's on until jan. 6 - think you can make it down some time?

blahhhh

unamaga: (cheer up emo kid)
Deli Meats - fifteen bazillion katrillion; Mel - zero

I guess by now I should know not to eat anything ever, because once I eat, I inevitably end up sick and brushing my teeth five times a day so my mouth tastes less like vile, dead things. Curse you, pastrami on rye! Curse your delicious, juicy flavor! Curse how nice you taste with any number of lunchtime beverages (like iced tea, soda, and either the pink or yellow kind of lemonade)! Such variety, such versatility! Our love was doomed from the start.

In news not related to my digestive system, I think I've officially found my sex pollen theme song. It's about sex and pollen, guys. Best song ever! \o/

Mirah - Pollen
You've got pollen on your nose
Where've you been? Where've you been?
Pretty pretty bunch, I'll take a dozen of those
You've got pollen on your nose

I want love in the afternoon

You've got pollen on your nose
Where've you been? Where've you been?
We make the dirt go flying with the shovels and hoes
You've got pollen on your nose

I wait and see if you'll give it to me

You've got pollen on your nose
I've been leaking like a garden hose
unamaga: (sing it girl)
Have just finished watching McKay and Mrs. Miller, and am grinning so hard my face actually hurts. ) Gleee! This is why I'm not allowed to watch nice things before I'm supposed to go to sleep; I'm going to be up for another four hours because of this stupid, lovely, horribly addictive show, I just know it.

Songs which fit my mood right now - aka my 'music that makes you bounce around and giggle a lot' playlist:

The Hush Sound - We Intertwined
Mika - Lollipop
Strong Bad - Everybody to the Limit (Live)
The Hush Sound - Crawling Towards the Sun
The Libertines - I Get Along
Sufjan Stevens - Chicago
Dumbledore - Drop the Needle, It's Christmas
Starlight Mints - The Twilight Showdown
The Hush Sound - A Dark Congregation
The Shins - Australia
Dirty Pretty Things - If You Love a Woman
The Wonders - That Thing You Do
Cream - White Room
The Waitresses - Johnny, Are You Queer
Talking Heads - (Nothing But) Flowers
The Fratellis - Baby Fratelli
The Libertines - Don't Be Shy

Woops, mighta gotten a little carried away there. Um. Anywho! Musically related, and because my sister made faces at me today for dancing around with my new (NEW!) headphones in, here is a poll. I know, right! It's been ages!

[Poll #1033698]

ETA: It hurts that polls don't let you fix mistakes. Ahhgg, my kidney. CLEARLY that actually says 'awake' and you are hallucinating the typo. THESE ARE NOT THE POLL ANSWERS YOU ARE LOOKING FOR.
unamaga: (such a beautiful day)
Some random pimping!

  • Set Your Hope on Fire - a Harry Potter fanmix by [livejournal.com profile] fallslikeicarus. AD/GG pairing, with major, major spoilers for Deathly Hallows. I haven't really listened to it all yet, but the fact that it exists makes me happy in my belly.

  • A Mix Tape on exopolis, which is HYSTERICAL. Every single mix tape you made during the eighties or nineties with your little ridiculous tape recorder? This is it, but even better. And I quote: "Your eyes? Are like...two marbles? Made of diamonds from...Eurasia?" and, "When I think about you, I think about, um, frosted flakes and...trolls. Like, the really cute trolls...the naked ones? With the, the hair? Anyway."

  • The Four Quarters 'Verse by [livejournal.com profile] trinityofone Stargate Atlantis, McShep AU (read in order)

Four Quarters | The Sea Swells | The Bellerophon Brothers | Bootleg: The Best of The Puddlejumpers | Tokyo Drift | Five Magazine Covers | La Familia

One of the most utterly consuming AUs I have ever read. I admit to maybe getting a little teary-eyed at the end (shhh, Sofie), but seriously. Seriously. This whole thing is incredible, so well put together and emotionally demanding and sometimes messed up but always beautiful. I can't recommend it highly enough, really. Happy sigh.

  • Just in case any of you haven't gloried in it properly, Tenacious D's "Fuck Her Gently" vid. It is so wonderful to randomly burst out with lines from it every once in a while: "That's fuckin' teamwork!" Oh, yeah. <3

Title: Girls Want to be With the Girls
Authors: [livejournal.com profile] immoralilly and [livejournal.com profile] unamaga
Pairing: Sam/Dean
Rating: NC-17
Wordcount: 3,334 words
Beta duties: Thanks be to [livejournal.com profile] schneestern, who told us to do more dirty talk and poked us when we got stuck. Kitten, you're the kicks!
Notes: A long, long time ago, I can still remember, [livejournal.com profile] dea_liberty asked me to write her some genderswap. I got through the first five hundred words and promptly forgot about it. Then, Dea was awesome and wrote Robin and I something excruciatingly hot; we vowed that day to finish this fic for her if it killed us. It's been almost five months, and often Robin and I have exclaimed, "It can't be done! Why can't it be done! It's so little!" and thrown our hands up in despair, but here we are: alive, with three thousand words of incestuous femmeslash fic and a nifty fanmix (note: download fanmix first for optimum performance) to show for it, dedicated entirely to one miss [livejournal.com profile] dea_liberty. We hope you like it, sweetie, and you should know that we absolutely adore you. <3

They’re sitting in the middle of a crowded diner, talking about carrots, when Sam suddenly sprouts boobs and claps his hands over his crotch in terror. “Oh my god, my dick just shrunk,” he says, voice cracking. )
unamaga: (itschurbutt?)
  • I got my acceptance letter from Brooklyn! I'm going back to college, baby, woot woot! I'll probably be complaining about my classes soon enough, but man it's gonna be good to have something to actually do again instead of just sitting home and rotting my brain. What should I take! Such options!

  • Yesterday, Jules and I were in a mood together - you know the kind where you want everything to be sort of honey-slow and dark and soft. So I sent her Black Coffee by Ella Fitzgerald and we both grooved to it for a while. Then she came up with this gorgeous, gorgeous image of Jared sitting at a piano after a long day with his suit jacket off, accompanying the song with single notes, and Jensen coming in with his tie undone and his shirt all rumpled, leaning up against the piano and Jared, whispering the words into Jared's ear. Sigh. I really like that image.

  • How many times do you think Dean and Sam have pulled off the interstate into an abandoned parking lot at three or four in the morning and rocked out to Bohemian Rhapsody? I bet Sam does all the high parts. Let me goooooo!

  • Does anyone have My Funny Valentine as sung by Chet Baker? I have it by pretty much every other person you can imagine, but I can't seem to find a download of him that doesn't require licensing. It's driving me absolutely insane, because I heard it on Last.FM and it was so lovely. Screw his trumpet playing, his voice is what's really swoon-worthy.

  • Who wants drabbles? Supernatural gen or slash, Real person gen or slash, Harry Potter MWPP, etc., etc. I'm alone in the house for the first time in days and ready to rumble! *cracks knuckles*
unamaga: (we love each other)
Kate, honey, I know I missed your birthday, but since I run perpetually late, this is ALMOST ON TIME. Right? Sort of? Anyway, it's here, it's a mix of sorts, and it will hopefully make you choke on laughter: Jensen and Jared do it to Disney Songs. Yeah, you heard me right.

The full-sized cover and mix, with drabble bonus! Put yer perv goggles on! )
unamaga: (sam's not here right now)
My lovely [livejournal.com profile] schneestern asked her flist who they wanted to be today instead of themselves, and most people answered awesome things like "Anna who has a fabulous house and lots of books", except, y'know, more elaborate than that. But I? Am an odd duck. This is my answer:

I want to be an eccentric middle-aged man who wears a brown, lopsided top hat and has a pipe that he pretends he packs with tobacco, but which actually just blows bubbles. My name would be something long and exotic, like Eric, but everyone would just call me Bob.

My days would be spent blowing bubbles from my pipe as I strolled leisurely around my sprawling estate, playing golf with my imaginary friend, Clownard, inviting young, available men and women to stay for weeks at a time so that I may make matches of them, and fancifully arranging ice sculptures in the garden for my next picnic-gala.

So, stealing from Jules, who do you want to be today? Bonus points if you can somehow involve a potato masher.

Oh! And also. I think I've been tagged for this thing five times over, so, here are seven songs that I am currently into - and this time, I will keep it down to seven songs only, damnit.

  1. Stina Nordenstam - The World is Saved
  2. Tori Amos - Happiness is a Warm Gun
  3. Ella Fitzgerald - It Don't Mean a Thing
  4. Cat Power - He War
  5. Massive Attack - Inertia Creeps
  6. Billie Holiday - Loverman
  7. Iron & Wine - Teeth in the Grass
unamaga: (trust me)
  • Have all of you seen this interview with Jensen and Jared, where Jensen does what he and Jared like to call the "Labored Inhale" face? HAVE YOU? Because, I. Where are the icons? Can someone make icons? THE LABORED INHALE FACE. And then the one he makes afterwards! OH JENSEN. And, and, Jared talks about someone grabbing his ass! This is SO OLD, I am very out of the loop on interviews, but. BOYS.

  • Some thinky-ness: are you more likely to find people you already know attractive, or complete strangers? I know, personally, that I have a horrible history of finding people I'm already friends with attractive and then being too close to them to actually do anything about it. I can't for the life of me understand casual sex, because it's just not how I work. Uh. Discuss?

  • I just yesterday found a folder of music in My Documents that I hadn't even realized was there, and now I'm at that beautiful stage where you listen to the playlist on iTunes over and over until you know all the words. So, I've scoured the intrawebs to look for where I got it, and I found the link: Fear No Darkness Promised Child. If you don't already have every mix [livejournal.com profile] bittersweet_art's done, you are not a whole human being and you should probably get right on that. Look at those gorgeous graphics! Listen to those fabulous songs! Boogie on down!

  • Who can actually wear a thumb ring and have it be comfortable? Like, show of hands? My sister bought me a Celtic knot ring and I have it on my thumb and it looks so PRETTY, but my circulation - it suffers.
sooper seekrit to s&c - itschurbutt.
unamaga: (hold me fast against the coming storm)
  • [livejournal.com profile] immoralilly has a poll up here that you all need to participate in. The two of us have somehow gotten this crazy idea into our heads that we need to do a fairy tale fic challenge, and we're canvassing for interest. IMPORTANTCAKES? I think so. Also, some loving recs. )

  • It is now a huge part of my personal cannon that Sam loves Talking Heads. Think about it - it makes SENSE, guys. Really! As much as we rag on Sam about being a huge girl, he is in actuality a dude, ALAS. And Talking Heads are cool, so there. Albums for download:

More Songs About Buildings and Food
Sand in the Vaseline (Discs 1 & 2)

  • I'm running a little late, but it's [livejournal.com profile] arabella_hope's birthday!! I don't have a full-on fic for you, honey, but I hope this is at least semi-okay. *smooches*

Title: Days Go By
Pairing: Sam/Dean
Rating: PG-13
Wordcount: 700 words
Notes: For the always fabulous [livejournal.com profile] arabella_hope on her day! HUGE HUGS to ms. wife-who-is-on-my-shoulder for her beta. Spoilers for AHBL, and not meant to be anything other than shameless self-indulgence. This is not a sad fic. You have been warned.

June and July go by in a blur of sunshine, Dean’s left arm turning brown from hanging out the driver’s side window, freckles spreading over the bridge of his nose. )
unamaga: (mine and not yours nyah nyah)
So, my darling [livejournal.com profile] immoralilly is on her way to me RIGHT NOW! She's in Dallas and hoping to be up here by the 16th. Oh, there are plans. A trip to Niagara Falls, for one - WHICH MEANS CANADA - and some running around the city, looking at all the pretty, shiny, bookish stuff.

Plus! If we can convince [livejournal.com profile] freekish_geek, we might be going to the Upfronts on the 17th and then holding each other through the SPN finale! Who else is trekking up for the event? Because, yeah, I'm shy as anything in person, but if I can hide behind Robin occasionally while she strokes my hair and murmurs soothing things about pretty boys, I think I'll be okay to meet people.

Anyone? Anyone at all? Bueller?

That movie was on today, by the way, and I haven't wanted to twist and shout this much in a long while. SHAKE IT UP BABY NOW! DO IT! No, seriously, I want to see you shake it up. Here, have the song. I'll wait.
unamaga: (girls put your records on)
Today has been an odd day.

I took nyquil at around four am to get the hell to sleep and then I spent the entire time I was asleep having fever dreams. At one point, Nick and Sara from CSI got on a wooden bench and did a tap dancing number while Warrick bagged up a random severed head - stop looking at me like that! Nyquil does weird things to me! - and that somehow segued into me finding new bras at the bottom of my clean clothes bin. That was Very Important and Significant to dream!Mel, apparently.

Then, after I'd woken up and suffered through the inevitable nyquil hangover, I set the toaster oven on fire. Not a huge fire or anything, just enough to completely char the pizza I'd been cooking. That takes skill, I think, since making Ellios is a pretty cut-and-dry sort of event. Been a few years since I last managed it. I'm so speshul. \o/

A bunch more odd stuff happened between then and now that I won't bore you with, but just now I feel compelled to tell you that there are tiny cuts into my nails that I have no idea about. How did they get there? What do they want? I didn't fall or scrape myself against anything, what the hell!

...Anyway. Here's a huge assful of music that I've been listening to lately, because even though I was tagged for a meme with seven songs by [livejournal.com profile] __3amconfession, we all know I can never keep it down.

Tori Amos Albums:
Little Earthquakes
Strange Little Girls
Under the Pink
[All Three]

Random Songs:
My Brightest Diamond - Freak Out
Tom Petty - Saving Grace
Sister Vanilla - Down
Cat Power - Werewolf
Hole - Celebrity Skin
Marilyn Manson - Personal Jesus
Frank Black - Headache
The Tea Party - Temptation (Rhys Fulber Remix)
Joni Mitchell - Blue
The Beatles - Twist and Shout

How'd today treat you, guys? No spontaneous combustions or dancing CSIs, I hope. Although, dancing CSIs are pretty fun, mwah hah hah! Oh, Nick, get down with your bad self. ♥
unamaga: (yakkity yak (sam likes yaks))
Breaking News: this week's weather continues to be awesomesauce. My sister, who normally loathes being out in the sun or being forced to read, has even agreed to romp with me in the back yard and then bring me to the bookstore! In honor of this truly momentous occasion, some cheerful moosics.

Starlight Mints - Popsicle
Death Cab for Cutie - The Sound of Settling
Camera Obscura - If Looks Could Kill
Tori Amos - Happy Phantom
Mika - Billy Brown
The Beatles - You're Gonna Lose That Girl
Regina Spektor - I Want to Sing
The Fratellis - Chelsea Dagger

Rainbow Brite Soundtrack - Brand New Day The ultimate spring song, guys. WAKE UP, RAINBOW! SPRING IS HERE!

Also, this is probably going to sound fourteen different types of strange, but do you notice the smell your skin gets when you're out in the sun for a while? Sort of tangy and a little bit salty, but not like sweat, just like... - I don't even know how to properly describe it. Either way, it's fabulous and I love it. I think I would molest someone based on that smell alone. Mmm.

I can't reach my back, my arms are like cooked noodles. Who wants to help me apply sun screen!

oh gawd

OK, I'm not proud of this, but I saw this video on Logo a while ago. I hated it the first time around. I believe my exact thought was "THE FUCK?", but that's neither here nor there because the point is, now I keep hearing it in my head at odd times and it won't GO AWAY. So.

Does anyone have Shrimp and Cookies by Mooneystarr? Here is the streaming video, if that helps with the getting it for me. FEEL FREE TO POINT AND LAUGH. It's catchy, though! And weird! You all know how I like weird, catchy things! This is what I get for still being up at, like, 6 AM, goddamnit.

Fic later! You're all excited, I can tell.

It's Monday and Monday begins with an M, so here's some MUSIC, which also begins with M. Isn't that smart? You see how I made that connection there?

Portishead - Wandering Star
Caviar - Sugarless
Cat Power - Cross Bones Style
Violent Femmes - Blister in the Sun
Harry Nilsson - Put the Lime in the Coconut (YOU KNOW IT)
Tori Amos - Me and a Gun
The Beatles - Helter Skelter
Blue Oyster Cult - Flaming Telepaths
Tori Amos - Silent All These Years
Liz Phair - 6'1"

Oh, I've been meaning to ask. When was "Hey You" by BTO used in Supernatural? I know it was - and in the first season, too - but I can't figure out when and it's driving me crazy. Speaking of the first season, though, who would be up for rewatching an episode or two with me tonight? I kind of miss it. Is that weird? And what episodes would we watch?

[Poll #958987]

Or, y'know, if you have one you REALLY want to see that isn't on this list?
unamaga: (haven't even - haven't even tied you up)
Watch this!! )

God, why do they do this to me? *whimpers and slinks away to change pants* I need icons. Do you know where I can find icons of these gorgeous men? Anyone? Bueller?

ps, ROBIN? ARE YOU ALIVE? DID HAWAII EAT YOU?
unamaga: (really i'm scary aren't you scared?)
So, my internet has been pretty spotty since yesterday, which is why I've been mysteriously absent. And what do I do while I'm internetless? Why, I make a mix, of course. But, oh no, it's no ordinary mix, my friends! It is a mix...for mixes. The songs here are ones that can be - nay, should be used in Supernatural mixes fandom wide. Because they're awesome and very relevant and also I like them (aka this is just an excuse to put songs together with a pretty cover). And what is this mix of mixes called?

The Songs! )
unamaga: (omgyay)

It's someone's BIRTHDAY, and we all know who! Happy Birthday, Jensen - may Jared keep you in bed all day! To celebrate, some Jensen-related goodies are to be had. First, a wallpaper in which he is gorgeous and smiling and too damn sweet to look at for more than three minutes at a time. N'aw, Jenny )

Second, a mix! Mostly, these are songs that ooze with sap and cheese - a discerning connoisseur's favorite combination. Includes such beauties as "You Light Up My Life" by Debbie Boone, "Sexual Healing" by Marvin Gaye, "Us" by Regina Spektor, and "Morning Song" by Jewel. Thirty two songs in all! Because Jensen is secretly a girly romantic and he listens to all of these in the dark of night when no one can hear him weep. He's moved, ok?

And, well, this third one is less related to Jensen and more related to the fact that I'm taking some advice on pumping up my self esteem and doing one thing about myself a day! So, well, if you wanted to know me better...awesome for you! If you didn't, um, feel free to just ignore this part. I'll probably make a filter so that people who don't want to, don't have to suffer unnecessarily. Lemme know if you want in. Anyway, I like this picture of me! )

Fic's coming tomorrow or tonight, depending on how long it takes me to whip Jared into shape. Oh, and that huge fic I'm working on is up to part three. *boogies* I love March already. Now I go to actually answer your comments. I love you guys. ♥
